RUMORS: Tying Tithe of Bones in With Ogors & Tomb Kings 2.0

Tomb Kings undead death ogors tithe of bone

Check out how the latest Tithe of Bones preview may tie in with new Ogors, and Death’s Tomb Kings 2.0 for Age of Sigmar.

Games Workshop revealed a video called the Tithe of Bones a while back. With some subtle clues here and there, we dissected it to the best of our ability. However, as time has gone one, rumors have emerged mentioning some kind of new Death faction as well as how they relate to the new Ogor update. Check out the latest and tell us what you think.

The First Wave of Previews & Clues

Warhammer Community first dropped a video at the end of their AoS Open Day called the Tithe of Bones with a voice giving some clues to what’s next for the forces of Death.

On top of that, there was some artwork in the video that looks to be unmistakably death-centered. Check out these clues and guesses to what could be next for death, and some potential surprises for the fatties as well.

One Industry Insider said the following:

These previews are for the next iteration of the Tomb Kings of old. Settra’s not part of Death now.

Let’s run down the usual, and unusual suspects for AoS. And remember these are all just rumors and educated guesses…

Tithe of Bones

For the people familiar with the End Times, there are three popular names that come to mind after watching the video. Vlad, Krell, and Constant Drachenfels- All which have similar ties to one another when Nurgle fought Nagash just before the Skaven wrecked everything. However, it’s probably most likely Constant Drachenfels speaking instead of Vlad or Krell.

The voice in the video mentioned “I survived the fall of the storm god’s hammer” which, Constant Drachenfels is the only one that fits the bill there.

constant drachenfels

Coming from the AoS Lexicanum on Constant Drachenfels:

Drachenfels commanded a veritable army composed of goblins, but would suffer his first and greatest defeat at the hands of Sigmar, a barbarian warlord who had gathered several human tribes. Drachenfels’ army was routed and he was slain by Sigmar himself. However, somehow he managed to survive and after a thousand years managed to fully restore himself.

Note:  Krell was also imprisoned (as the voice in the teaser mentioned) however, he broke free and died fighting a champion of Slaanesh and Nagash never felt like resurrecting him again. So for the sake of the timeline, it’s probably not Krell.

It’s Not Settra Speaking

Some of the community thinks/hopes that it could be Lord Settra speaking. However, with convincing clues and rumors popping up in artwork and books it’s probably not regardless of what we have been hearing.

There is a peculiar quote from a book that could have shown the fate of Settra- He’s a Stormcast leading his Imperishables for Sigmar now.

Remember, Lord Settra’s chief title is Settra the Imperishable.  With that said, a name popped up in an Age of Sigmar novel, Hamilcar: Champion of the Gods by David Guymer.

Key Takeaways From The Video

tomb kings

The video shows a fortress that looks to be built out of bone. Totally fitting for a Necropolis if you ask us. It’s also important to remember that in the lore of Constant Drachenfels, he had a castle named “Castle Drachenfels” built in the Grey Mountains that could never be destroyed…

Constant Drachenfels ended up “dying” by assassination. However, Nagash resurrected a certain Mortarch called “The Nameless” in the End Times who was unable to remember his past life. It just so happened that the Nameless was mentioned as being a recently defeated great enchanter from the Grey Mountains. Nagash’s deal with The Nameless involved telling him about his past life in return for his aid in service. –Smells like Constant Drachenfels could have gotten got a second-second chance doesn’t it?

Ultimately, The Nameless (i.e Constant Drachenfels) probably heard about his past life, all the memories came rushing back and decided that he needed a Castle Drachenfels 2.0.

Sounds Like an AoS Mongolian Faction

The music in the video (and the voice actor) both sound like they could be from a Mongolian/Asian culture. However, while the Tomb Kings may have an Egyptian theme, they also used the word “Necropolis”. Just as this video does, multiple times in their books and units.

So the Tomb Kings could be coming back in some form or another…But under the rule of a new leader (a.k.a Not Settra) and with a new Undead theme.

forbidden power art

Another important note is that in the Forbidden Power artwork. Showing Celestant Prime and Lady Olynder about to slap box, you can see a huge powerful entity breaking out of some kind of “cage”. While the fight is going on, you can see the structure falling to bits as debris. We could be looking at the character who said “I broke out of the Soul Thief’s prison” from the video.

Maneaters Faction Support Announced

The video from above mentioned a “Tithe of Bones”. However, just days before it was released, the Ogor video might have dropped some clues linking the two factions together.

maneater 1

maneater 2

It’s probably not a coincidence that GW previewed two videos almost back-to-back sharing a heavy theme of bones. Something is going on centered around Death. These two factions could be linked in the storyline that has yet to be officially explained.

While we’re still waiting to see an official announcement of our suspicions, the Ogors were mentioned in a wave of rumors.

Maneaters Rumors Emerge

Before we jump in, these rumors were spotted online from an unconfirmed source. It should go without saying but TAKE THESE RUMORS WITH A PINCH OF SALT. We won’t know if it’s 100% true unless it comes from the mouth of GW.

According to the rumors on the Ogor faction:

  • All resin models are being removed
  • Tyrants and Butchers are getting replacement models
  • Ogors will be united with the Beastclaw Raiders under one book
  • Terrain piece will be a huge pile of meat with a cauldron in the centerrumor engine 7-9-18
  • Supposedly, these heads are a part of the terrain piece for the Ogors
  • Ogors are also getting three Endless Spells which are: A floating piece of meat, A giant mouth, and an Everwinter manifestation.
  • They should be releasing in October alongside a new Death faction.

By now, you might be wondering “How does all of this tie in with the new Death Faction“? Well, there’s more to the story.

Rumors on this “New” Death Faction

There was a word from other sources on the web giving some insight on the new Death faction as well:

  • They will NOT be Tomb Kings OR Deathrattle but use Skeleton archers/horsemen (so like a Tomb Kings 2.0 AoS style)
  • They will have Ogor Skeleton units. The Feast of Bones is a lore-take on a pact Ogors have with Death. (They give their dead Ogors to them for peace).

Ogors Might Have Broken the Tithe Treaty

For the latest video to hit the community on this mystery Death faction, the same voice speaks about himself from the first video. He says things like “In life, I was a General. In death, I am an Emperor”. and We judge their [cities/settlements] offerings.  You can also see clearly in the video, people hauling massive dishes of bones into this mysterious city gate.

tithe of bones

While it’s not explicitly mentioned in the video, we can basically tell that anyone who doesn’t pay this tithe essentially goes to war. While it’s not been 100% spelled out for us, it sounds perhaps like Constant Drachenfells gathered up an army of Death and began demanding a tithe of bones/dead bodies in return for safety.

With the Ogors shouting, “The Pact of Bones is broken!” and “Let the feast of bones begin!” in their video, sounds like the Ogors were giving in to the tithe until (for whatever reason) decided to go back on their offer and break the peace with this Death faction.

All in all, the rumors and previews around the latest in AoS is definitely picking up speed. With a conflict seen between the Maneater Ogors and a new Death faction, we could be even seeing a Box Set with all-new models appear in the days ahead. There’s not been any mention of this but we can still have some wishful thinking!

What do you think about the rumors after the latest video from Warhammer TV? Have the Ogors broken their treaty? Is the voice in the video Constant Drachenfels? Let us know in the comments of our Facebook Hobby Group, and sign up to get your free hobby updates newsletter each morning as well!
