The cat may be out of the bag on this Games Workshop rumor engine, as it looks like something new may be coming for the Ad Mech side in Warhammer 40k.
If you missed it, WHC dropped a rumor engine a few weeks back of something that looks like the back-end of a rifle. However, it’s got some near-perfect match-ups with an Adeptus Mechanicus weapon that we can’t ignore.
Red Dead Rumor Engine- Points to Ad Mech Release?
An eagle-eyed user that goes by Dragomusic1 on our website spotted something that matched up with the Adeptus Mechanicus Rangers.
Going off of the bit alone, it’s almost unmistakable that this is some kind of rifle. However, some key features look to match up with the Admech’s Rangers.
Getting a close-up of the Ranger’s weapons side-by-side, the calligraphy on the stock is an exact match. From the brass plate where it’s fired on the shoulder all the way to the fancy curvature down the side, it all matches with the rumor engine. Where things start to change is the lever-action itself. All of the Skitarii weapons look to have an open-lever mechanism and it’s all smooth. The rumor engine even has fingered grooves and looks to be holstered.
Even though there are slight differences the further we move down the bit, the theme still manages to fit perfectly with the Admech’s theme.
Could This Tie in With Psychic Awakening?
While the latest batch of Psychic Awakening rumors didn’t mention anything for Ad Mech explicitly, we can’t rule out the possibility of these guys having at least some kind of minor involvement in the story. GW already said that each faction would have a stake in Psychic Awakening. Plus, Cawl has been pumping out Primaris left and right… It would only make sense that he would show his own peeps some love.
They may not be on the radar of getting a Box Set or anything right now. But that doesn’t mean they can’t get a new model as a part of their support.
The most recent Admech support we’ve seen was Daedalosus from the Blackstone Fortress expansion. However, it would be a warm welcome for any Admech players to get something more than just a single character in a specialist-game expansion.
Wishful thinking, of course, we think it would be cool for Ad Mech to bring in some kind of HQ that would buff Rangers specifically. He might be a veteran Ranger himself that could turn the Ad Mch’s cheapest Troops choice into even more useful killing machines.
With these cosmetic aspects to the rumor engine matching up very closely to Skitarii Rangers, do you think more Ad Mech support is on the way? Is this bit going to a character or are we looking at part of a new unit entirely?
