sisters-of-battle-40k-title-wal-horMore new Sisters of Battle 40k rules are here! Don’t miss the latest on warlord traits and miracle dice for the Adeptus Soroitas.

Spotted on Imgur, there are some Warlord Traits in store for the Sisters. Sit back, relax, and tell us what Warlord Trait is going to be the most widely-used in your force!

Before we jump straight into the Warlord Traits, however, it’s important to talk about Miracle Dice and what they’re used for. Some Warlord Traits play off of these. Also, if you missed the first wave of Sisters rules coverage, be sure to check that out as well.

Miracle Dice and Acts of Faith

In-game, you’ll have a small side-economy of miracle dice to keep track of. Make sure you don’t accidentally pick these up or let anyone bump into them or you’ll be a sad panda (maybe writing them down on paper would be better). As the game plays, you’ll be able to net Miracle Dice by having a character die, if you kill an enemy unit, if you stop a Psychic Power, and roll a natural 1 on your Morale test. (Remember to roll your morale on all your units even if you can’t fail it. It’s an opportunity to net a Miracle Die!

When you gain a Miracle Die, you’ll roll it and take whatever the value of the die is and set it to the side, When you decide to use a Miracle Die, you use that value for what you would normally roll. For example, if you need a 10″ charge and don’t feel comfortable with your odds of rolling, you can pull two 5’s out of your Miracle Dice pool and automatically make the charge! The same can be done for a character that needs to make a ton of invuln saves if she’s in trouble.

Miracle Dice is a new mechanic to the army but is going to be a paramount aspect to capitalize on if you play this army. With all of that covered, let’s jump into the Warlord Traits.

Generic Sororitas Warlord Traits

In terms of force multiplication, Indomitable Belief might be the best option if you plan on running swarms of Battle Sisters. Getting a 5++ invuln for as many units as you can fit into a 6″ bubble around your Warlord can make that a real pain to deal with.

As for value, Beacon of Faith is always nice as you’re getting a guaranteed Miracle Dice before anything happens on your turn. You can gain it and spend it right away for any sketchy roll you need to make from the top of the turn.

Order-Specific Warlord Traits

Breaking down the specific Warlord Traits for each Sister’s sub-faction, there is a single table for each named Order.

Important note:  Our Martyred Lady’s Shield Bearer looks to have the same kind of save-improving wording as the Imperial Fists and Salamanders codex had before they got nerfed to just say “Armor Saves”. With that said, there may an FAQ nerf this Warlord Trait to only affect the model’s armor save. Based on the pattern as of late, it wouldn’t be surprising.

The Blazing Ire ability for the Bloody Rose is good if you want to have something like a Canoness geared toward character hunting. Combine this Warlord Trait with the relic Chainsword, Beneficence and this Sister will be a real pain train.

Your Warlord Can Filter Bad Miracle Dice

If you have a Miracle-Dice hungry force, Light of the Emperor essentially lets you get a free Miracle Die roll for your Warlord a turn. As soon as you perform any Act of Faith, you immediately gain a Miracle Die.

You can also use this Warlord to cycle out poor Miracle Die rolls from your pool. For example, if she’s not going to be in combat any time soon, you can have her perform an Act of Faith and use a “1” you rolled from your Miracle Die pool to advance. Then, you will gain a Miracle Die and have the chance of rolling something better.

Terrible Knowledge is an amazing early-game starter. Netting you the best possible Miracle Die you can get…a 6, AND also giving you D3 CP. This Warlord Trait is only super relevant at the start of the game, however, it’s a great way to get a leg-up on your opponent.

Overall, what do you think about these Warlord Traits? Which Warlord Trait goes best with the different Sisters HQ’s?
