A Sneaky Pattern Emerges: Chapter Approved 2019 Points Changes

https://spikeybits.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/11-Factions-Chapter-ApprovedThere is a sneaky pattern that is starting to emerge to each faction’s 40k Chapter Approved 2019 points changes. Take a closer look at this.

From different sources across the web, we’ve been seeing more and more points changes hit the internet for various factions. And while fluctuating points is going to shake up gameplay, there is definitely an underlying theme to note.

To lay this out on the table, it seems like for the most part, all faction units have gotten broadly cheaper. usually somewhere in the range of 10-20 points cheaper. Of course, there are outliers of unchanged units and some things that have gone up in price, but generally speaking, most things got discounted.

Even some people on Reddit are beginning to notice the trend as well as what it will mean for future 40k games if it continues.

Looking At Daemons For Example

  • Horticulous Slimux down 15 points to 150
  • Infernal Enrapturess down 10 points to 70
  • Kairos Fateweaver down 35 points to 250
  • Lord of Change down 20 points to 250
  • Shalaxi Helbane down 40 to 220, or 230 with Aegis
  • Keeper of Secrets down 30 to 210, or 220 with Aegis
  • The Masque of Slaanesh up 13 to 78
  • Rotigus down 35 to 250
  • Skarbrand down 40 to 290
  • Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster down 30 to 210
  • Plaguebearers up 1 to 8
  • Furies down 1 to 7
  • Plague Drones down 4 to 36
  • Screamers down 5 to 23
  • Beasts of Nurgle down 4 to 30
  • Bloodcrushers down 7 to 40
  • Exalted Flamer down 20 to 50
  • Fiends down 5 to 37
  • Flamers down 5 to 20
  • Burning Chariot down 10 to 100
  • Exalted Seeker Chariot down 10 to 70
  • Skull Cannon down 10 to 80
  • Daemon Prince with Wings down 15 to 155
  • Seekers 15

Looking at Daemons as a single example, it looks like a broad majority of units got discounted. In fact, of twenty-four different points changes, only two Daemon units went up in cost. With that said, Daemons never claimed to be the most busted or hyper-competitive army out there. But y0u’ll find similar results across all other faction changes that have been spotted.

What Do Heavy Points Drops Translate To?

In short, if you’ve already got an established force, you’re able to fit even more toys into your list. But for the people who are jumping into the game or may find it hard to get new units, they aren’t able to get as much mileage out of the models they do own. We used to be able to get a decent fighting force only a few years ago for $300 (ish).

That was a decent start to an army. However, now, we are seeing some Xenos lists, specifically, Dark Eldar lists cost upwards of $2000+. And with things only getting cheaper, more models will be hitting the field. Basically it seems like in 2019 GW raised prices, lowered points costs.

Overall, what do you think about the points change? Have you also noticed a steady drop in points across the board? Do you think we will slowly begin to see bigger and bigger armies hit the field of 2,000 pt tournaments?
