new gw releases Check out what may be on the way for January’s GW new releases! As 2019 comes to a close, it’s time to look toward the horizons of 2020.

2019 has been an exciting year. And with previews still going strong for all avenues of Games Workshop, there are still plenty of releases waiting to hit the shelves. With that said, we’ll be going over what we think is on the way in January of 2020.

Remember these are just our best guesses for future releases based on previous sales history and current rumors.

January 2020: First Week

MTO dark angels bundle

New Years Open previews are on the way, and the MTO Dark Angels come off pre-order on the 1st.

warhammer open day

Warhammer Open Day is commencing on the first weekend of the month, which could include even more goodies for Psychic Awakening. (Remember there are still two books beyond the fourth). While they left their description vague, with an entire year of releases ahead, this will probably be loaded with new previews of what’s to come.

Looking at some of last year’s Warhammer Open Day highlights we saw:

Necromunda Ambots

Adeptus Titanicus Campaign Book: Titandeath

Editor’s Note: Aether War is coming January 11th as previewed by GW

January 11th: PA4 Ritual of The Damned

Ritual of the damned book warhammer 40k rulesNew Years Open previews will be aplenty, but more importantly, GW brought back the MTO Dark Angels until Jan 1st, so chances are they may try to pair them with the launch of Psychic Awakening IV: Ritual of the Damned.  Normally they have a soft opening week of releases for the New Year, so chances are this year will be no different.

But week two may be spicy with the arrival of more Psychic Awakening!

January 18th: AoS Aether War

age of sigmar aether war bundleA new AoS starter box is on deck for January according to Games Workshop, plus two new Battletome books as well!

With two new battletomes and a battlebox featuring two new Heroes landing in January, 2020 is starting with style in the Mortal Realms.

Chances are just like the Feast of Bones release we’ll see new dice, warscroll cards and more hit for these factions then.

January 25th: Specialist Games

Rumor has it that a ton of new releases from Necromunda to Titanicus are on the way soon for Specialist Games. Plus we know there is more Warcry on deck as well (Spire Tyrants and Monsters). This would make a great week to see them all hit stores as well.

  • Necromunda Corpse Grinder Release (Tactics Cards, dice, gang box)
  • Necromunda New Enforcers (Tactics Cards, dice, gang box)
  • Zone Mortalis Sector Separate Release
  • Titanicus Command Terminals Set
  • Souldrain Forest Terrain Set (AoS? Warcry?)

As for the Zone Mortalis Sector, this is pretty vague and could be the terrain inside of the Dark Uprising Box Set just broken down into its own box. The terrain inside the Dark Uprising box was broken down into columns/walls and Platforms/stairs. It’s some grey area if this Zone Mortalis Sector is even the Dark Uprising terrain. However, it could be broken down further into those two kits pictured above.

February 1st 2020 Sisters of Battle

sisters of battle leakWe had seen these Images of new Sororitas units and heard rumors they would hit in February, so that is where we are penciling their release for now.

It’s probably that this will be a multi-week release, although GW seems to have mastered the one week drop starting with the Bonereapers as well as a new book and army box each of the closing months of 2019.

Even More Psychic Awakening Progression going into 2020

Psychic Awakening 2020When 2019 ends, we will have a total of three Psychic Awakening books under our belt. And for the most part, GW really rapid-fired these out to the shelves. Looking to 2020, they’ve already previewed the next three books in the series. Those being:

Each book will be accompanied by an epic champion to lead the charge in this terrible age. These legendary heroes will include reborn, reimagined and brand-new characters, but we can’t reveal any more details at the moment.

They mentioned that these were going to be released in January, February, and March of 2020 respectively so we won’t have to wait too long to see what new rules and models lie in store for us…  However, at this point, Febuaray’s releases are shrouded in mystery for the most part.

What do you think is coming in January 2020, and when?
