ITC 40k Championship Beta Changes

Assuming that you’ve already read the first wave of beta rules, we’ll be jumping strictly into the biggest changes that hit the beta rules list. Sit back, read everything over carefully, and start making notes on things you might need to tweak in your list now!

We’ve got one more weekend of playtesting left before we lock the missions down for the season and so have done our second round of revisions based on feedback. This is what changed:

  • Big Game Hunter & Titan Slayer Combined: These two missions were combined and now gives a point for every 10 wounds cumulatively dealt to units with the Monster, Titanic or Vehicles keywords. This makes it far easier to track the mission and avoids those awkward point overlappings where one unit counts for one secondary and the other doesn’t. Plus, it makes things a little less brutal on Knight lists.
  • Maneuver Secondaries Slowed Down: As you know, secondary objectives got categorized into two groups: Seek and Destroy (killy) and Maneuver (board control). On that note, they made it so that you can only start scoring points (to a max of 2) in the maneuver category on turn two. People were apparently scoring way too many points in the early game.
  • King of the Hill includes Knights Now: Throwing a helping hand to Knight players, you can pick King of the Hill as a solid secondary choice now. -Pretty straightforward.
  • Mission #2 Reworked: Finally, mission #2 was changed where you’ll be placing an objective in your opponent’s deployment zone. You can only get the bonus if you hold the middle objective and the one you placed (this made things a bit more difficult).

While this batch of changes wasn’t as big as the first beta rules wave, everything definitely seems to be more streamlined with special attention given to Knight players.

On that note, what do you think future lists will look like once these rules become locked in? Do you try to build your lists to kill as much as possible? Capture as many objectives as possible? Or just find a happy medium?
