Space Marine Moneymaker: Thunderfire Cannon Back in Stock!

thudnerfre cannon space marines tactics rules warhammer 40kThe Thunderfire cannon is as powerful as ever, and now, it’s back in stock. With as popular as they are who knows how long they’ll last this time around.

Games Workshop updated their webstore once again showing that, at the time of writing this, the Thunderfire Cannon is back in stock! Considering all the Space Marine hotness with two stratagems and Doctrines making this a cheap toolbox unit, there’s no surprise that almost every Marine list might auto-run one of these. If you’ve been holding out for an official GW model, you can grab yours once again.

Editor’s Note: At the time of publishing this item was in-stock, however, with over 3000 views in less than 24 hours on this post alone, the Thunderfire Cannon has gone back out of stock again.

Thunderfire Cannon Back in Stock on GW’s Site $56

If you want to lob punishing shots at your opponent but you’re not the biggest fan of the model these brands offer some great Thunderfire Cannon alternatives. Keep in mind that you should always check with any tournament organizer to make sure any “counts as” model is allowed for that event.  It’s our opinion that true counts-as models should be (or converted to be) the approximate profile of the model they are meant to represent.

Forge World’s Rapier Mortar Squad $55

rapier mortar squadThis complete, multi-part resin kit is supplied with two Space Marine crew in MkIV ‘Maximus’ Armour.

Going to another option that’s still technically GW, the Rapier teams for the Horus Heresy are a great option. They’re almost exactly identical in model size and aesthetics. Just add a techmarine model…

Wargame Exclusive Imperial Obliterator 29.99

wge thunderfireFor 28mm scale wargames.
HQ resin TURRET model.

Especially fitting for a Dark Angels player, the Imperial Obliterator cannon is an awesome gothic-themed model that will fit right in. Note that this doesn’t come with the stand, and it may be a bit out of scale, but gets a solid “E” for effort. You can purchase the stand separately right here for 12.99

Mantic Game’s Forge Fathers Brokkrs Bundle $24.99

mantic thunderfire 1The Forge Father Brokkrs comes in a bundle of 11 miniatures that might make for a few awesome Tech-Marines or Servitors. But the main reason you’re buying it is for the tracked-gun

mantic thunderfire 2It’s a unique design on something sitting in the Thunderfire Cannon’s weight class and will be an awesome addition to the collection of firepower. Plus, for ten additional minis, that’s not a bad price at all.

Mantic Games’ Forge Fathers Weapon Platforms $39.99

3 Plastic Jotunn Heavy Hailstorm Cannons
1 Resin Surtr Magma Cannon Upgrade
Crew and armoured shielding

Mantic also offers a small bundle of other awesome cannons that you can easily put a Techmarine behind. Which one of these is your favorite?

Kromlech’s Storm Cannon Heavy Weapon Platform $24.53

This set contains one resin Legionary Heavy Weapon Platform armed with Storm Cannon.
Designed to fit futuristic 28mm heroic scale. This model is approximately 53mm long, 44mm wide and 45mm height

Kromlech took their own spin on things bringing another awesome mini to the table. This weapon platform is unmistakably similar to the Thunderfire and at a decent cost with its own aspect of uniqueness.

HiTech Miniatures Hellfire Cannon  €19.00

hellfire cannonThis is an older model that has recently made its way back to the web store. Just another option for you to consider when picking your alternate model! It even comes with a little DJ mixer in the back for those grimdank blast beats.

At the end of the day, as long as something sits at the same scale as the Thunderfire Cannon and looks decently similar, we doubt you’ll have any issues with throwing down an alternate model on the tabletop. Shoot, you could even make one from scratch as long as your bits bin is big enough!

Of all these great Thunderfire Cannon (legit and alternate) which one is your favorite? Have you made your own T-Fire cannon?
