Hidden In Plain Sight: Psychic Awakening Agents of Bile Origins?

fabius bile walWere clues to the origins of the Agents of Bile hidden in plain sight over past 40k lore and the most recent Psychic Awakening story?

Warhammer Community dropped a Psychic Awakening short story teaser a few days ago that we highly recommend you read. Stacking the details in the story with the GW online previews mentioning the Agents of Bile, we might have just seen their backstory laid out in plain sight. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet but it’s definitely the best match-up we can see so far.

Hidden In Plain Sight: Psychic Awakening Agents of Bile Origins?

psychic awakening wal dark apostleWe’ll be giving you a real short outline of the story, but you should read it for yourself as well.

Basically, Space Marine Chapters have been tasked with anyone showing psychic powers within their ranks to be executed. There’s an Astartes about to get mollywhopped by a Bullgryn and he blasts it with his mind bullets so he doesn’t get his melon popped. After his Brothers see this, they have to do the ceremonial execution led by the Chapter Master, Corian.

However, Corian gets fed up with killing his brothers and makes a fateful decision. He basically tells everyone in the room that he’s done fighting for the Imperium and says that he only fights for his brothers. With this Chapter, in particular, showing some serious growth in psychic abilities, they could be cutting ties with the Imperium to stop the executions and find a new purpose.

We are warriors, not cattle. We are the predators, not the prey. It is time we acted as such.’

It was Cathal who stepped forward, earnestness written plainly across his face. ‘What would you have us do, lord?’

Corian grasped him with both hands, a cold smile forming as he answered. ‘We take back our destiny, my brother. For you, me, and every one of our comrades that have died protecting this hollow, corrupt ideology of Mankind.’ The Chapter Master turned to take in the rest of the room, speaking with surety. ‘We fight for us now.’

‘Some will resist, brother.’ Cathal warned quietly. ‘What do we do then?’

Corian’s face took on an almost fanatical zeal. ‘Then we must enlighten them.’

Could They Go Join Ranks With Bile?

fabius bile chaos walBack when Fabius got his first official preview online, the GW also gave some backstory on what’s been going on. We know that, while Fabius is Chaos, he kind of does his own thing and likes to tinker with genetics/living organisms. GW also mentioned that there’s a new sub-faction on the way called The Agents of Bile.

Along with background on the battles taking place amid the ruins of the Cadia System, the book will include new rules for the Adeptus Custodes, Sisters of Silence and Imperial Assassins. There are also additional rules for each of the seven Plague Companies of the Death Guard and a new Chaos Space Marines sub-faction called Agents of Bile, representing the twisted creations of the Clonefather.

Now, this doesn’t mean that the Astartes in the short story are destined to become twisted creations of “the Clonefather”. Heck, we don’t even know what chapter they are or even if they are Primaris or tiny marines yet.

But that doesn’t rule out the fact that this Chapter could have gone to him for a sense of direction/answers to their awakenings. Which of course, he would probably give them an empty promise and use them as test subjects to make new warriors.

It’s definitely a Fabulous Bill-type of thing to do…

chaos-wal-hor-space-marines-word-bearers-dark-apostleAnother interesting note (which might just be dumb luck), is that the Chapter Master’s name is Corian. Which, if you remember your Astartes history, there used to be an Astral Claws’ Captain named “Corien Sumatris”, and whose body was never recovered during the Badab War.

According to 40k Wiki:

Corien Sumatris, called the “The Tyrant’s Champion” and “Warden of Piraeus,” was the mysterious Captain of the Astral Claws’ 2nd Company. Sumatris rose swiftly to prominence first as one of Lufgt Huron’s Honour Guard. His fierce savagery paved his way up the ranks, and by the outbreak of the Badab War, he had not only been made Captain of the 2nd Battle Company but had been granted the wardenship of the world of Piraeus within Huron’s demesne.

Sumatris was believed to have been killed in action just before the final siege of Badab Primaris by the Loyalists, although his body was never identified.

Shortly after, the Astral Claws turned Chaos and were became the Red Corsairs. With this character’s name only being off by one letter, it’s definitely worth noting.

There’s something going on with this new Chapter in Psychic Awakening. Whether they’re an off-shoot of the Red Corsairs or maybe some dudes that are ready to forge their own destiny, perhaps with Fabius, we’re not sure.

Do you think the Chapter met up with Fabius? Will they be the segway into Primaris being introduced to Chaos?
