New 40k Engine War Rules Details Hidden in Plain Sight!

engine war ad mechCheck out this rundown of all the new 40k rules that were hidden in plain sight from Engine War that is coming our way next week.

If you like Knights, Ad Mech, or Daemons, your ears should perk up when we mention Engine War. Spotted on Warhammer Community, they gave us a Table of Contents page of what’ll be inside. Here are the golden nuggets that we see:

What’s Coming Inside Engine War Exactly? Details Hidden in Plain Sight!

Engine of war

Of the content within the pages laid out, we know we’re getting Stratagems, name generators, datasheets, updated points, customizable Forge World/Knight Households, and more. It’s difficult to tell what some things are based on their title in the Table of Contents alone. But we have all of that from above to look forward to!

For starters, Engine War is going to be the Psychic Awakening Book with the most amount of points printed yet. We’ve seen Primaris characters make their way to Blood of Baal and Ritual of the Damned, but Ad Mech is getting a handful of new units with all their points. That means for the Ad Mech players wanting to use their new toys, this book is going to be pretty important.

It also looks like they’re getting two pages worth of Warlord Traits and Stratagems as well as maybe some kind of update to the Canticles of the Omnissiah.

40k Kill Team Areana

With all the new Cavalry and Flyer units coming to the Ad Mech, the Tech-Priest Manipulus is finally being offered for sale individiaully. We first saw a named version come in Kill Team (Seen above).

Imperial & Chaos Knight Support

engine war knight supportThe good guy and bad guy Knight’s support varies slightly. Imperial Knights have a clear two pages worth of Stratagems as well as a page of Warlord Traits laid out. They’ve also got some kind of Allegiance Oath system now. If we had to guess, this could be the Knight version of the McPick 2 custom faction rules that GW has been steadily handing out. (i.e Bolter Fusilades, Stealthy, Master Artisans, etc.).

Chaos is laid out a bit differently, with their Knights, we’ve got five different Households, which may come with their own Warlord Trait/Stratagem. Basically the same style of support we saw the different Thousand Sons Cults get in Ritual of the Damned.

Engine War Takes Care of Daemons & FW Units!

engine war daemonsFor the Daemons in 40k, Engine War will be their next chance to shine. Syll’Esske and company look to be getting their Chapter Approved update finalized, Plus there are other Daemons in the list with a heavy focus on Slaanesh and just a few Khorne units like Flesh Hounds. As for the Infinite forms of Corruption, we could see how it might be just a lore page…or something more.

Maybe the McPick 2 will make its way to Daemons here?

Now here’s an especially big note to make. The Greater GREATER Daemons who’s models are only from Forge World are getting two pages dedicated to them for each god. Right now, they’re insanely expensive points-wise and a possible datasheet tweak may make them playable in a 2K game. It’s interesting to see these guys pop up in a Psychic Awakening book and not the Forge World index that was announced to be getting reworked.

All things considered, Engine War looks to be the biggest expansion into Psychic Awakening thus far. With Ad Mech getting a bunch of new units to Forge World Daemons making an appearance as well, this should certainly shake up a few army lists.

What do you think about the support coming inside Engine War? Do the Ad Mech need all those new kits desperately? Do you have an Exalted Greater Daemon in your collection?
