We’ve got a cracked egg and a studded gauntlet as 2 rumor engines emerge this week, one of which could be linked to the previous one.
Warhammer Community just unveiled another rumor engine and this time it’s a gauntlet and sword. Check out the details of this new bit that looks to be on the way for 40k or AoS.
There is also a second rumor engine bit of a cracked egg for this week found in its normal Tuesday slot on Warhammer Community.
2 New GW Rumor Engines: Cracked Eggs & Studded Gauntlets
The Studded leather gauntlet and curved sword kinda shout finesse. If you look at the curved sword, you can see spikes along the blade edge. These would cause immense pain, ripping, and tearing, instead of just a smooth cut. If you’re familiar with old Aelves, you may know that this is something they really reveled in, not so different from 40k’s Drukhari.
Looking at the City of Sigmar’s Black Ark Corsairs, we can see not only black leather gauntlets but also curved swords. It is possible that with the revival of the Dark Aelves as a unique faction, they may lean more into their grim, pain-driven past. This is also on the back on a Malerion release we have been speculating since all the way back in August. Not to mention this rumor engine match up with previous bits that are still unsolved!
This Rumor Engine is a bit tougher to tackle. At a first glance, it looks to be some sort of bug, due to the pincers on its head. Since there’s not really any faction currently using bugs extensively this could belong to any faction really. However, I would lean a little bit more towards death or destruction in AoS and probably Xenos in 40k, maybe a baby Ambull?
I don’t really see Space Marines using bugs for obvious reasons.
One such potential model is this Cave Shaman for the Gloomspite Gitz. While there aren’t any bugs on this model, there is a little critter who we could easily imagine being a hatching egg or beetles. Not to mention the dark cave theme of the Gitz fits well with an insect aesthetic. There’s also Nurgle themed armies who like bugs, however, there’s tend to be giant not freshly hatching (unless they are maggots).

What do you think about these bits? Could it possibly be for a Dark Aelves Faction revival? What’s a current model that you think could use a rehash or update that these might fit for?
