By Travis Pasch | October 13th, 2020 | Categories: Pop Gamer Culture, Star Wars, Warhammer 40k Rumors

obi-wan-series-tvThe new Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series seemed dead in the water, but it now has a confirmed shooting start date of March 2021! Hello there!

You may want to sit down for this one because it’s only respectful to give Obi-Wan the high ground! Many of us were worried that Obi-Wan would never get his time in the sun, with the original series being announced in 2019, and nothing happening on it. But now we can all breathe easy as the man himself, Ewan McGregor, announced on the Graham Norton show that they have a solid date for shooting.

“It’s the Obi-Wan Kenobi story, I suppose,” he said. “It’s not all me. But it certainly will be a lot of me, which is good! We start shooting it in March of next year.” Well, we for one are glad it has plenty of him in it!

Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Expected Release Date

Obi wan Kenobi SeriesThe expected release date is now going to be some time in 2022 but the exact date is not yet revealed. With them starting shooting soon we hope they don’t run into any more problems or COVID  restrictions don’t hold them back again.

When you look at Disney’s release schedule it is pretty late on the list for their 2022 schedule, behind other series like Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, and Moon Knight. If you need to watch something Fantasy a little sooner, check out some of the teasers for The Witcher coming out next year.

What we Know of the Story

Obi wan Kenobi Series 2It is going to be a six-part series and we’re assuming each one of them is going to be around the hour mark. Six hours of Obi-Wan sounds good to us! If it does well, we assume it will also get extended. You know Disney isn’t going to sleep on something that is bringing in the cash. As for the story itself, it’s going to take place eight years after Revenge of the Sith and eleven years before A New Hope. We finally get to see what “Old Ben” was up to all those years!

Ewan McGregor also said he went back and watched a ton of the work of Alec Guinness to better embody the original character. We are excited to see what comes of this one!

what do you think about the new series? Are there any other series you want to see that’s been delayed by COVID?
