blizzcononlineWith all the COVID craziness still going on, Blizzcon 2021 is going to be fully online and completely free! Check it out.

The move definitely makes sense, with COVID still going on, throwing a giant convention with countless attendees may not be the best choice. Some of the events used to be free, like the opening ceremony, but now you can take part in the whole thing for free. They mention you will be able to watch and engage in every aspect for free. They even came up with a catchy name for it, Blizzconline.

The event will take place on Feb. 19-20th and they are still running many of the favorite events, like the cosplay contest. If you go all the time, it may not be as exciting, but at least we’ll still be able to enjoy it!

Blizzcon 2021 to Happen Online and for Free!

Blizzard gameThey recently did a fireside chat, that goes over all the details and reasons why they went this route. But if you want to join in the fun here’s all the community events still taking place:

  • Cosplay Exhibition
  • Cosplay Contest
  • Art Contest
  • Digital Storytelling Contest
  • Talent Spotlight
  • March of the Murlocs

A pretty decent amount of events are still happening! So if you want to show the world what you can do, why not join in the festivities? If you want to sign up for any of the events, you can go sign up here. Let’s look at what we know about some of the events.

Community Showcase

Blizzard artworkOne of the events we’re planning for BlizzConline is the Community Showcase—an opportunity for cosplay crafters, artists, and other community creators to participate in the show and put their talent on display through a mix of world-class competition and exciting exhibitions. And thanks to the all-online nature of the show, we’re able to make these events accessible to even more people from around the globe. We’re also assembling a special March of the Murlocs and inviting everyone to send us images and videos to join in.

So many ways to show your geek love and skills! Whether you’re a cosplayer, artist, or writer, they have something for you!

Cosplay Exhibition

Entry Deadline: January 4, 2021

Are you someone who enjoys regularly attending conventions in cosplay? Or maybe you’re looking for the right opportunity to get started on your own cosplay-crafting journey? Either way, the Cosplay Exhibition is for you! This just-for-fun showcase of original cosplay from Blizzard’s universes is open to people of all levels of skill, whether you’re a seasoned veteran, a casual cosplayer, or somewhere in between.

The all-online format also gives us a chance to do something we haven’t been able to before: invite the animal kingdom onto the virtual stage! So if you fancy dressing up your fuzzy friends and want to show off your dog, cat, or other critters, we’d love to see your pet cosplay as well.

We’ll have to see if Rob dresses up his cat for this one! If you’re not confident showing off yourself, why not make your pets do it?

Are you excited for this to still be happening online? Will you be watching the events?
