Index Astartes is back in the new White Dwarf, and GW has just revealed some of the new Space Marines Emperor’s Spears rules.
In a Warhammer Community post today, GW confirmed that they will be getting an index in the new White Dwarf and showed off their Chapter Tactic, Redden the Earth. They also cover some of their lore and background in the post. But if you want to learn all about them, you have to check out the book by Aaron Dembski-Bowden, Spear of the Emperor. It unsurprisingly focuses on this Chapter (shocker). There were rumors last year they were getting their own book, but it never really came to fruition. At least now we’re getting some rules.
The Index will cover three Relics, their Chapter Tactic, three Warlord Traits, and a pair of Stratagems that are unique to the Chapter. We’re sure they’ll also give a painting guide and tons of lore in there as well. White Dwarf is pretty affordable, so getting some new rules in there is always a plus!
New Space Marines Emperor’s Spears Rules & Index Coming
They aren’t a brand new Chapter, but they aren’t super well known either. If you don’t know anything about the chapter, here’s a quick overview of who they are:
Fans of the Celestial Lions may know about the vast region of scattered worlds that form Elara’s Veil. This sub-sector had initially been under the Chapter’s sole stewardship – a thankless task which their proud warriors had long been hard-pressed to perform alone. Eventually, the Celestial Lions were reinforced with two new Chapters from the Twenty-Fifth (or Bastion) Founding to aid them – the Star Scorpions and the Emperor’s Spears – creating the Adeptus Vaelarii.
Redden the Earth
They’ll be geared towards close combat and with their Chapter Tactic, they’ll hit pretty hard. Adding one to the advance and charge rolls isn’t crazy but when it gets you into combat by that one inch, you’ll be praising this tactic! Getting additional hits is always nice, and basically increases their combat efficiency by 16%, so pretty sweet. That’s all they’ve revealed so far, but the new White Dwarf can be pre-ordered this weekend, so not long to wait for the rest of the rules.
