Top Homebrew 40k Army List: Fabricators Forge RTT

40k-homebrew-army-listsAnother off-meta 40k army list emerged in the Fabricators Forge RTT Tournament, check this one out!

9th Edition’s meta is still settling, but some players are taking lists with units that nobody was expecting. Check out this awesome homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. They didn’t do too bad and just goes to show that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.

Fabricators Forge RTT: Joseph Clark- Black Templars

fab forge black templar 1Starting off the Battalion of Black Templars, John decided to have it led by a Captain on Bike, Grimaldus, and a Primaris Chaplain on Bike. These characters provide a mix of re-rolls, leadership buffs, and can grant additional hits in melee. They are also decently mobile thanks to two of them being on bikes.

Another thing to note is the chapter tactic give this battalion re-rolls to all the units for advance and charge rolls, meaning there will most likely be a heavy focus on melee.

fab forge black templar 2For Troops, he took 3 squads of 5 Crusader Squads, which serve as the Black Templar’s faction unique troop choice. they are special due to them being pretty cheap compared to the new primaris options, leaving more headspace for more elite/point dense units.

Starting off Elites, there is the Judiciar, which is good at running down enemy characters in melee. While the Primaris Apothecary helps to keep the most important units topped off while they run up the board and try to get into melee.

fab forge black templar 3In Elites, there are also 2 Redemptor Dreads running Grenade Launchers, Plasma, and Gatling Cannons. This loadout provides a great mix of chaff clearing through lots of shots, and anti-armor thanks to the Macro Plasma.

A 10 man Terminator Assault squad running hammers and shields make for a hard unit to deal with that can do some serious damage in melee. These are probably the main damage output in melee, so the apothecary will want to take care of them.

The last Elite is a 5 man Vanguard Veteran squad with a mix of claws and shields, plus a single chainsword, on top of jump packs, which help make them a mobile force that’s also pretty durable.

Lastly, for Heavy Support, there is a single 5 man squad of Eradicators for a solid amount of anti-armor shots.

Overall this list offers a little bit of a different approach but we like it because of their all-in on an aspect of their faction in a response to the meta.

Even better they got great results from the player who piloted it! It’s also very encouraging when a player is able to play a widely considered “underpowered” army or list style so effectively.
