The Necromunda Hive War Starter Set has arrived at the studio, check out Rob’s latest unboxing and review of the newest box!
We’re back unboxing the newest addition to Necromunda! Rob takes a look at everything in the box, checks out the rules they give you, and if this set is a pass or fail overall.
We are going to show you everything including the bits, terrain, and extras. That way you can decide if this is worth your hard-earned hobby dollars.
Necromunda Hive War Starter Set: Unboxing
Get Yours For Less From Amazon or Dicehead Games!
Unfortunately, this was allocated to one per store in the US, so it makes it hard to build a Necromunda group in your area. It also goes for $150, a little more than the old starter, but does come with a bunch of great terrain which we first saw in the Dark Uprising kits from about a year ago.
The Dark Uprising stuff is actually one of Rob’s favorite terrain sets, but unfortunately, it just never seems to be in stock anywhere really.
The Value
We did a full value break down here, but a quick round-up is there is some value right off the bat, but it’s actually not that big. The value comes in the fact that you can get into a game in one buy.
What’s in the Box
You get two barricade sprues, 4 walls and columns set, and 4 sprues for the gangs.
For accessories, you get the templates in the exact same style as the 3rd Edition Starter (Which is pretty sweet!), the roster cards, bases with the texture on them, Necromunda dice, tokens, reference guide, and a game mat. The mat is just a piece of paper that folds out, so not great, but better than nothing!
The Rulebook Included
It’s a paper-back book that’s about 105 pages. The first 20 pages are fluff and then it gets into the rules.
It has an overview with playable rules for each gang as well as some fluff on them as well. It has some battles included, the map layout, and narrative campaigns. But, this will not have everything included that’s in the main rulebook, just keep that in mind.
Final Thoughts
The value isn’t crazy when you look at the dollar amount, but it can get you into the game in one buy. If it has value to you, then it’s worth it! Just always be sure to vote with your hobby dollars and support what you love and not just always the newest releases.
