Recently we saw this kit sent out to customers instead of Maloghurst, so GW went ahead and decided to show off the new Sons of Horus Praetor!
Warhammer Community just unveiled the newest addition to the Sons of Horus line, but this miniature had already been spotted in the wild. They say it was a shipping mistake, which is definitely possible as Forge World has done this before, or they could have done it on purpose to build hype.
Either way, it seemed like a bunch of people received them, and they decided to get ahead of the rumor and just reveal the mini!
So, if you guessed the mystery kit was a Praetor, give yourself a pat on the back because you were right. Let’s check out the mini and the kit in the wild.
The Bits in the Wild
This is the kit they got, and it’s quite obvious that’s not Maloghurst! There are a few rumors floating around as to who it is, but now that it’s confirmed, no point guessing anymore. Since it isn’t any of the minis seen in the new starter, we still have hope that it will be plastic.
It was obviously Sons of Horus by the shoulder pads. The most obvious thing would have been a Praetor (turned out it was), as they already previewed them for the Imperial Fists. Not to toot our own horn, but we did guess this one right, so, toot-toot!
New Sons of Horus Praetor Confirmed by GW!
Whether you prefer to assemble the miniature with the fearsome, impassive helmet or the head option that bears more than a passing resemblance to the Warmaster, his pose strikes a dynamic, powerful stance that should keep him stable when he swings that power fist. He’s also armed with a volkite pistol, so you know he’s not messing around at any distance.
The mini is honestly pretty cool even if the posing isn’t super dynamic. When you compare it to the Imperial Fists one, it is similar but not quite as action posed. Since they already have the kits ready to go, we hope they come out soon, but GW did say they will be coming later this year.
With no real date given, we expect a release within the quarter. If you were one of the people who received the Praetor, you can either keep it or contact Customer Service to get a replacement.
Do you like the look of the mini? Will you be picking it up when it officially comes out?
