New Space Marines Bladeguard Hidden In Plain Sight

New-blade-guard-primaris-space-marine-captain-lieutant-modelThe exclusive Space Marines Bladeguard Lieutenant was spotted originally in the 9th Edition Orks codex from July 2021.

Hobbyists picked up the trail of what looked to be a new Space Marines Bladeguard Lieutenant model from this image. that looked to have bits and pieces that don’t appear anywhere else…

New Exclusive Space Marines Bladeguard Lieutenant

Warhammer Day Exclusive Minis

UPDATE: This Lieutenant model that seems to be hidden in plain sight is a variation of a Space Marines Bladeguard Veteran that is a new exclusive to celebrate Warhammer day!

This Bladeguard model appears to be the only Space Marine spotted looking at the camera in the spread across pages 46 and 47 in the new Orks codex. Note the other Bladeguard models in the fore:

New Bladeguard allHere’s a close-up of what Snikrot is closing in on:

New Blade guardThis model notably looks pretty similar to the Captain in the 9th edition 40k Starter sets…

blade guard starterThese do look very similar, however, most notably the shield, helmet, and halo are different. That’s important because this model only has one configuration as it was inside a starter box.

multipart bladeguardThere was also a multipart kit release of the normal Blade Guard Veterans, which we can check the sprues for the “missing” bits.

Bladeguard Vet KitThe easiest thing to spot would be the Halo with a skull and the shield, however, both are notably missing!

All in all, there are at least 4 main differences that strongly suggest a new model is on the way:

  • Iron Halo with the skull is similar to captain from the starter box, but not exact
  • The head without helmet version is nowhere to be found
  • Shield matches captain pose but looks closer to multipart kit
  • Seems to be a new belt accessory option

Perhaps this is all pointing to a Blade Guard Captain multipart kit release? It ended up being an exclusive Space Marine Lieutenant to add to your growing Lieutenant army that surely is nearing 20 models by now!

Warhammer Day 2021 Exclusive Minis Revealed

Warhammer Day returns once again on the 30th of October 2021. We’re marking this momentous day with not one, but two incredible commemorative edition miniatures and an absolutely massive online preview of some of the major releases slated for the rest of 2021 – and beyond.

There will be two new minis but also a Warhammer preview, meaning some of the big rumors we’ve been seeing might actually get confirmed.

Warhammer Day Exclusive MinisWho doesn’t need another Lieutenant in their army? Well, if you’re already overflowing, get used to it we guess…?

Warhammer Day Exclusive Minis 2Phwoar. This Primaris Lieutenant With Storm Shield will be joined by the Vampire Lord Anasta Malkorion, with both miniatures available for a strictly limited time starting on Warhammer Day itself, the 30th of October, until the 7th of November. Anasta Malkorion will be available in stores and online, but you’ll only be able to acquire our brave Lieutenant from Games-Workshop.com.

It’s definitely a little disappointing stores won’t have the Space Marine, but at least they will get one mini. Plus, you’ll have a full week to order. We hope they MTO these, so they don’t skyrocket on the secondary market.

This might also show just how far behind their original release schedule GW is as we saw this mini over two months ago in the Orks codex. It’s more likely though, they just were just getting this promotion ready ahead of time.

Overall, both the minis are pretty static but the detail is there and they would make for really fun additions to anyone’s army.

Do you think this is a new Bladeguard Captian or Lieutenant?
