#1 Famous 40k Conversion Before 3D Printing Began

Deodorant-Stick-40kBack in the day, we didn’t have 3d printing to make new 40k models and conversions, but we did have the Deodorant Stick Grav Attack!

Welcome to 40k Flashback, where Rob digs deep for something cool that he has or hasn’t seen before from back in the day, which according to the comic Dane Cook was a Wednesday… (maybe that reference is a type of flashback itself)  Come see a blast from the 40k past, pure plastic madness style!

#1 Famous 40k Conversion Before 3d Printing Began

The old days of GW 40k conversions before 3d printing were crazy times- you could even make something from a deodorant bottle.

Deodorant Stick Grav Attack! When you look at the beauty of the conversion above, how could that not get you into the hobby? Just thinking that you could make all your own conversions from spare parts laying around. All you had to do was add a few bits from your box, and bam, you were good to go.

#1-Famous-40k-Conversion Deodorant Stick Grav Attack!Rick Priestly wrote perhaps the first full conversion article for the Hover Tank in White Dwarf #95 from November 1987. He built it off a deodorant bottle, spoons, and various bits. Behold the splendor of the Hover Tank, kids don’t try this at home! Well, not if you want to go to an “official” GW tourney, that is- lol!

If you want to have some fun, go for it! You can even see all his instructions and make your own, and there are even rules for it- for 3rd Edition 40k, that is.  It’s always fun to look back to see how far this hobby has come!

What do you think about the flashback? What’s your favorite model from the old days?
