GW Reveals New Underworlds Season: Gen Con Preview

gw-previews-underworldsA new season of Warhammer Underworlds has been revealed by GW at Gen Con with a starter box and minis- check it out!

Games Workshop promised a bunch of previews coming from this year’s Gen Con and first up is a new season of Underworlds with a starter box called Harrowdeep. They say it’s the biggest box they have released for the game, with cards, boards, tokens, minis, and more.

Warhammer Community just unveiled all the contents inside with Stormcast and Orruks taking center stage. We knew the armies involved, but they did show all the new minis this time.

Let’s get into the reveals, but if you want to see all the latest from Gen Con click any of the links below (we’ll update them as more comes out).

New Season of Warhammer Underworlds Revealed: Gen Con

warhammer underworlds Harrowdeep 2Harrowdeep is the biggest ever core set for Warhammer Underworlds. With all of the boards, cards, tokens, and dice you need to get started, it’s the ideal way to jump into the new season.

The box will in some ways unfortunately follow the same armies as the Dominion. If you play either of those armies, it is great news but for everyone else, it’s another release that you may not have as much interest in.

warhammer underworlds HarrowdeepAfter two years of battling it out in the shadow of the living mountain known as Beastgrave, Warhammer Underworlds: Harrowdeep moves the action to a new shadowy location. Deep beneath the seas in Ulgu lies a  forgotten dungeon where darkness reigns supreme. There are even rules to reflect fighting in the Realm of Shadows that can shroud parts of the battlefield in gloom.

A new location and season will surely get things moving again. It’s cool that they are constantly keeping the game moving forward. Plus, the starter set does have a ton of stuff inside.

Let’s check out the minis next.

warhammer underworlds Harrowdeep 3Think that they’re just going to be kunnin’? Don’t worry – if those extra nasty weapons are anything to go by, they’re plenty brutal too. Just look at the gnarly details in these models. We’re not going anywhere near that grabby stick. And caw, check out that raven.

The models are pretty interesting, but the posing is a little static overall. Still, hard to complain about new minis!

warhammer underworlds Harrowdeep 9We don’t know exactly what Sigmar has sent them to do, but we know it’s going to be bad news for Da Kunnin’ Krew and any other warband that gets in their way. This is the first Thunderstrike unit that we’ve seen in Warhammer Underworlds, and the dynamic poses of the models show just how ready they are to bring Sigmar’s light to the depths of Ulgu.

Again, the models aren’t bad but pretty plain. Nothing jumps out as too amazing. But the sculpts look nice and again, it’s new minis!
