Games Workshop is cutting off restock orders to stores in an attempt to catch up, which may explode the secondary market in the short run.
Games Workshop informed stores this week that restock orders would be cut off until September 9th so that they can catch up on order fulfillment. Stores can still submit orders, they just won’t get into GW’s order queue until the 9th.
Currently, stores report 4+ weeks on restock orders, which not unlike a lot of other factors right now, are making shelves a little bare for stores in general.
Heads Up Games Workshop is Cutting Off Restock Orders!
Obviously, COVID put GW, and basically everyone, behind so we’re not giving them a hard time. Their factories have basically been working overtime for the past 6 months, so we expected something like this to happen.
Let’s hope this does catch them up and that they will have capacity for both new products, and restock orders each week starting in October!
While this may bring up secondary market prices for about a month, we hope in the long run this helps shut down the scalpers. If GW can fulfill everything, or at least get the orders out to stores that are in their queue, they may be better positioned for the holiday order volume.

If you do see a spike in the secondary market, it might be worthwhile to just wait until the end of September, maybe even a few weeks into October to get what you need.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens, but with this, there’s hope for Games Workshop to keep more in stock in the Warehouse, for both their webstore and local stores. The recent Ork release was much more available than previous releases, so with a little luck maybe we can see truly pre-COVID allocation numbers moving forward.
Do you think Games Workshop cutting off restock orders will help them catch up?
