Top Warhammer 40k Army Lists: WarGamesCon October
Thanks to Best Coast Pairings we are able to look back at the event as if we were there ourselves. You can check out the details for the event here.
If you wanted to see the names and factions of the overall winners, we’ve included that below.
Now let’s check out the top three more in-depth!
3rd Place: Wyatt Turk – Chaos Space Marines
2nd Place: Nathaniel Bjorge – Custodes
1st Place: Robert Moreland – Astra Militarum
Robert went for 2 detachments with the first being a battalion led by Yarrick, a Primaris Psyker, and a Tank Commander. Yarrick is great because he has his Power Klaw in melee, but also provides rerolls to hit to nearby units and rerolls ALL hits against Orks! The Pysker offers up some cheap psychic support and the Tank Commander brings in a ton of extra firepower.
Troops see a total of 5 basic 10 man Guardsman squads for bodies to help grab objectives and potentially soak wounds for more important models.
Elites bring in 2 Platoon Commanders which help by being able to distribute commands to help other units through the game, whit 3 Wyrdvane Psykers offering up additional psychic support.
Fast Attacks bring a single Scout Sentinel, most likely to round out leftover points. While Heavy support adds 3 Heavy Quad Launchers for a huge volume of shots to help clear all the opposing chaff units, and a Manticore to help take out ranged armor threats thanks to its extreme 120″ range.
Finishing the battalion in a single Chimera to help protect a few models in the early game.
The second detachment is a patrol led by two Tank Commanders, which help beef up the ranged threats thanks to the firepower they bring. There is also a single Inquisitor to help with one last psychic support piece.
Troops see a total of 10 Tempestus scions added in, for some slightly more elite bodies than standard guardsmen to help hold the line and secure the objectives!
Finally, there is one more Manticore to help double down on ranged armor threats.
