The Warzone Atlanta GT happened over the weekend with some pretty sweet 40k army lists towards the top!
The top overall players were a lot of the same stagnant meta that has hung over tournaments like the ghost of the Knight Castellan, so we’re featuring some of the more unique lists that placed high instead!
Top Warhammer 40k Army Lists: Warzone Atlanta GT
Thanks to Best Coast Pairings we are able to look back at the event as if we were there ourselves. You can check out the details for the event here.
If you wanted to see the names and factions of the overall winners, we’ve included that below.
However, we aren’t covering all those lists, instead, we will be looking at just a few of our favorite, but still strong lists!
Also if you happened to miss it, the meta will be changing in some manner due to the new Balance Update for 40k that Games Workshop published.
Also note, this event allowed players to use army composition pre-balance update.
7th Place: John Lennon – Tyranids
3rd Place: Jaime Paris – Space Wolves
1st Place: Jack Harpster – Grey Knights
Jack won the tournament with a pretty standard Grey Knight list starting off with a Patrol led by a Techmarine to heal up vehicles and a Grand Master Dreadknight serves as a great psyker with support for the list and can teleport in. He also comes with some hard-hitting melee and ranged weapons making him a beast in all-around combat and utility.

A single Strike Squad is the only troop to add some bodies which help to take objectives and fill out the Troop requirement.
Rounding out the detachment is 2 Nemesis Dreadknights which are like the Grandmaster is a beast in ranged and melee combat, however, does not get his extra goodies that come with being a more expensive HQ.
The second detachment is an Outrider led by a second Techmarine and Grandmaster, both filling the same role as the first detachment. Followed by three 10 man interceptor squads adding both bodies for objectives and a decent amount of mobility which is always helpful.
Closing out the list is a final Nemesis Dread, which brings the functional count all the way up to 5, making up more than half of the list’s points, and as the best unit since their update, that makes perfect sense!
