A tidal wave of rules changes and updates are on the way for Warhammer 40k in 2022, with Warzone Nachmund and two Chapter Approved books coming soon…
The first season of Warhammer 40k is already kicking off with a bang in 2022 as there will be a campaign book, a Crusade book, and the two Chapter Approved books. Not to mention a new Kill Team Box Games Workshop teased as well.
They also stated the seasons will last 6 months each, meaning in another 6 months, another round of balance changes and new supplements will be on the way…
Warhammer Community announced the first set of books today along with what to expect and how the seasons will work. Basically, it seems like they are combining the Warzone-style books into bigger rules changes overall. Let’s check out the details!
Warzone Nachmund: Warhammer 40k 2022 Season 1
You can check out the video above for a more in-depth talk about how the seasons will work, but here’s the rundown:
There’s a new concept coming to Warhammer 40,000 in 2022 – seasons. They’re a new way to explore the vast setting of the war-torn 41st Millennium in much greater detail.
Each season will last six months, focusing on a different corner of the galaxy and all the fighting that’s happening there. We’ll be witnessing pivotal flashpoints where the outcome of battles will have major consequences for the grim, dark future. Each season will be supported by the release of new miniatures, rules, and more. It’s an exciting time to be a Warhammer 40,000 fan.
This is good in a way as the game will see continual balance changes. However, it is also potentially bad for hobbyists as they will have to spend $200 just for the rules to play with existing codex rules and miniatures they already have.
Anyway, it is an interesting idea and hopefully keeps the game as balanced as possible…
Vigilus Alone Warhammer 40k Campaign Book
Your return to War Zone Nachmund will play out with a new campaign book. Similar to the War Zone Octarius books, it will feature new army rules, including an Army of Renown and a Codex Supplement, along with legendary missions, Crusade rules for fighting on Vigilus, and ways to link your games together in a campaign so you really feel like you’re fighting for control of the gateway to the other half of the galaxy.
We’ll have to see if these are basically the same thing as Octarius, but it looks like Chaos is getting some love on the rules side of things. If this is also anything like the Octarius, they will drop the Chaos Space Marines codex and then a supplement within a week or so to go along with it.
Having new missions is always fun, so that’s something to look forward to. Plus we expect Chaos or Eldar to get the Army of Renown inside. It does say only one Army of Renown, so that’s actually less than previous supplements if it means overall across all the Nachmund books.
Warhammer 40k Chapter Approved 2022
The first season introduces a new Grand Tournament Mission pack, which provides the framework for the next six months of competitive play. There will be new missions, new secondary objectives, and updated points costs for the armies in Warhammer 40,000.
It looks as if they are abandoning the old style of one Chapter Approved book and going to two Warhammer rules update releases per year. So we thought the next one we would see would be summer, now it looks like the beginning and middle of every year will see the packs.
The good news is if you’ve been waiting for some of those big updates, well here they come!
New Crusade Rules
Along with the campaign book, there will be a new Crusade mission pack, featuring 24 new missions, extra Requisitions, Agendas and Battle Traits, and a War of Faith campaign system that sees your army casting down false idols and their worshippers for greater rewards from your own deities.
This doesn’t affect nearly as many people, but if you love Crusade you might have to pick this up. As it has a lot of missions and cool little extras inside.
Teased Kill Team Box
Behind the scenes, the Nachmund sector is full of special operatives undertaking deadly missions behind enemy lines. Yes, the next Kill Team boxed set will also be set in the Nachmund Gauntlet, and includes two splendid new kill teams.
There have been rumors about a new Eldar Kill Team with new models inside and this would be the perfect time to drop them. It could obviously be something else, but that seems to make the most sense right now.
