All the New AoS Idoneth Deepkin Points Changes & Rules

idoneth-deepkin-book-codex-rules-aos-newNew Warscrolls, rules, and Idoneth Deepkin points changes here from all the latest Age of Sigmar Updates!

Overall there are some big points increases and some of the rules are looking to be NERFed, however, we haven’t seen the whole book yet. so don’t get too salty!

These could be a  little disappointing to some, but as we said, don’t get too worried yet. None of this may make sense until we get the full picture of everything that may be getting updated with each faction for AoS 3.0

Let’s first look at the value for the Fury of the Deep Box, then get into the rules!

fury of the deep

Yet another ancient animosity reaches boiling point as bald heads meet long beards in Fury of the Deep, the next battlebox to rock the Mortal Realms.

The Auric Flamekeeper is joined by five Auric Hearthguard and five Hearthguard Berzerkers – 10 models in total who can be built either way – as well as 10 Vulkite Berzerkers. Against them is an Idoneth raiding party consisting of 10 Namarti Thralls, 10 Namarti Reavers, and a blood-thirsty Akhelian Allopex.

With 43 minis (and 2 new ones) there is a decent amount of miniatures inside the box!  They say it will be released in “early 2022”, and now we know it will hit store shelves on January 22nd, 2022. Let’s get into the value!

Fury of the Deep Box Set Pricing Breakdown:

fury of the deep 4The price of the box is $170 the same as the previous Shadow and Pain box went for.

  • 10x Auric Hearthguard/Auric Berzerkers $90 ($45 for a box of 5)
  • Auric Flamekeeper $35 (based on most recent characters)
  • Vulkite Berzerkers $60 (existing kit)

Total Fyreslayers MSRP: $185

  • Akhelian Thrallmaster $35 (based on most recent characters)
  • Akhelian Allopex $45
  • 10 Namarti Thralls $50
  • 10 Namarti Reavers $50

Total Idoneth Deepkin MSRP: $180

Total Retail Value of Fury of the Deep: $365

Value in the box: $195

So, if you break it down with a friend, you’ll be paying right around $85 a person and getting about $100 extra in value each. We are also not including the booklet inside because that should just be an added value bonus for players. So, honestly, there is solid value inside (basically the same as Shadow and Pain) and much more than the recent Shadow Throne box for 40k.

New Idoneth Deepkin Akhelian Thrallmaster AoS Rules

Idoneth Deepkin Rules

Unshackled from the restrictive training of the Akhelians, each Thrallmaster learns to wield an armoury of exotic weapons, swapping between styles and stances to fell the foes they face in the vast oceans of the Mortal Realms  –  accompanied by the Namarti warriors they’ve drilled in each deadly dance. Scoring an extra hit for each hit roll of 6 will turn your already-bloodthirsty Thralls into a combat blender, while the ability to re-roll hit rolls of 1 offers them more reliability in a pinch. If you’re on the receiving end of overwhelming force, the Way of the Vortex also increases your survivability – ideal against big monsters with a handful of powerful attacks.

Idoneth Deepkin points 4

Idoneth Deepkin ThrallThis gives you some decent buffs and flexibility rules-wise for the new Akhelian Thrallmaster. Getting extra hits on 6’s is always nice, but so is re-rolling all ones. It really depends if you think you’re going to roll a lot of 1’s (you need to trust in your dice more) or think you’re on a hot streak and will get a ton of 6’s (maybe trust in your dice less…). Either are both pretty strong.

Then, if you’re getting charged, the way of the Vortex will help keep your Akhelian Thrallmaster, along with nearby forces, alive longer to strike back with these new Idonneth Deepkin Warscrolls rules.

All the New AoS Idoneth Deepkin Warscrolls Points Changes & Rules

Fury of the Deep PointsThe biggest change here is the Allopexes going up 40 points a model. The Thralls also went up 10 points for 10 models and the Reavers went up a whopping 55 points! We’ll have to see the whole book, but these are pretty big increases.

Idoneth Deepkin Warscrolls & Rules Changes

Idoneth Deepkin pointsThe wounds did go up, so the points there make some sense, other than that, most things stayed the same, but they did gain some damage on their weapons. So really, with the additions, the points do sort of make sense.

Idoneth Deepkin points 2Their Bravery increased by one, they have a better to hit roll, and now they just have one attack profile with 2 attacks and an added Rend. They took away the run re-roll, but make them better at hitting units that are close. So, they did get better in some ways, but 55 points is a lot, we’ll just have to see how they perform overall now.

Idoneth Deepkin points 3They got an extra Bravery and an extra inch on their blades. Other than that, they are staying basically the exact same. Still, 10 points aren’t anything crazy, so we expect them to perform about the same as they currently do.

Tides of Death Rules

Flood tide

Any Idoneth Deepkin army can benefit from the Tides of Death – army-wide bonuses that shift with each battle round as the ethersea ebbs and flows – but Isharann Rituals will really let you ride the waves. If your army includes any ISHARANN units, at the start of the first battle round you can choose from one of four rituals to influence the ethersea.

Shooting and charging is pretty nice and by turn 2, you should be able to get some charges off. However, adding 1 to your run and charge rolls could help you secure the charges you need.

Tides of Death

Any successful soul-raid depends on timing – pick the perfect moment to land your ritual, pair it up with the right fighting stance, and watch your warriors sweep away all opposition like an unstoppable tsunami.

This will let you get out of combat and charge either the same unit again for the bonuses, or get onto a new target. Then, the Ritual will let you deal some mortals to all enemy units within 3″. If you’re in range of 3 or 4 units, the wounds could really start adding up.
