With prices on the rise, here are some of our favorite alternative Games Workshop Warhammer Miniatures, with value, to set your army apart!
To start, we want to say, we’ve never seen a TO (non-GW) have a problem with any of these because they are made to the same size and look similar enough. Obviously, some of these aren’t necessarily cheaper, but they are hand-crafted minis by creators who care about the community.
We’ll break down the value, but also what they can be used for. If you’ve been wanting to get away from the bandwagon a little and get an awesome alternative army, these are hard to beat!

Wargames Atlantic
Wargames Atlantic might have the best value out there in terms of dollars. Often, you get 25-30 minis for only $35! That price is insane and almost impossible to beat.
Especially when you consider a box of Cadians is $50 (when the price increases come down). They have all kinds of great stuff that would work for Guard, so if you need a lot of models on the board, they are the place to look!

Victoria Miniatures
While these aren’t necessarily cheaper than buying from GW, you get hand-crafted boutique minis for the same price as GW! This means you will have an amazing-looking army that stands out on the tabletop or shelf for the same price. Plus, they have some very cool alternatives that could make for some really fun regiments.
Some of their prices range up to $60, but that’s the same as the new DKoK guys now anyways.
Kromlech
Kromlech has a ton of amazing bits and minis, but possibly their best are the Space Marine alternatives. They have them all broken down into bits, so while they won’t really save you cash if you build entire squads out of them (it comes out to about $63) it won’t lose you much.
But what most people do is grab a few sets of bits and either use them with their existing bits to make new minis or add them to existing kits to really make them stand out! Oh yeah, not to mention the amazing Ork alternatives!
Wargame Exclusive
Wargame Exclusive has tons of amazing alternatives for cheaper than most. Especially when it comes to the characters, as theirs generally range from $15-25. Meaning you’re saving $10-$15 right off the bat. They have a lot of Imperial and Chaos alternatives but also a lot of Xenos stuff as well!
Artel W

Artel has a giant line of minis ranging from Imperial to Xenos to Chaos, and they all look amazing! Their prices are pretty decent and the minis just look amazing. Plus, they have something for basically every 40k player out there!
Hardcore Miniatures
Hardcore has some of the most inventive minis on the market with a wide range. They have a ton of one-off characters that would be perfect for 40k, but also have tons of squads and even great Squats! If you want some really interesting minis to spice up your army, they are the place to look.
Puppetswar
Puppetswar has about as many amazing bits as you’ll find! They have also just started an awesome Patreon with some of the coolest and most modular files we’ve seen in a long time! So you can either get resin or STL files from them.
Creature Caster
CC is known far and wide for its insanely crafted minis. They used to pretty much only focus on the big daemon minis, but they have also recently started focusing on the smaller minis as well. So if you play Chaos or Daemons, then you need to check out what Creature Caster has!
