Top Homebrew 40k Army List: Scottish Take Over 10 GT

40k-homebrew-army-listsAnother off-meta Warhammer 9th Edition 40k army list emerged in the Scottish Take Over 10 GT, check this one out!

9th Edition’s meta is again in flux, but some players are taking lists with units that nobody was expecting. Check out this awesome homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. This just goes to show us that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.

Thanks to Best Coast Pairings we are able to look back at the event as if we were there ourselves. You can also check out the details for the event here.

If you wanted to see the names and factions of the overall winners, we’ve included that below.

However, we aren’t covering all those lists, instead, we will be looking at just one of our favorites this week.

Scottish Take Over 10 GT: Ray Cross – Orks 7th Place

Ray Cross 1

Ray went for a two detachment list of Orks with the first being an Outrider. It was led by a Warboss on Warbike, which give the boss great durability, mobility, and fighting power.

Jumping straight into the Fast Attacks, there are 3 DeffKoptas, which are of course some decently costed harass units with good movement. A single Boosta Blasta adds in a ground threat with a good suite of weapons that can target anything you need to be gone. 2 Scrapjets add in more flyers for harass and of course, can always dive bomb towards the end of their lives for some extra mortals.

A single Shokkjump Dragsta brings in another ground threat this time with a greater emphasis on anti-armor. Finally, there are 6 Warbikers for another mobile unit that can zip around and be exactly where they are needed.

Ray Cross 2The second detachment is a patrol led by a Deffkill Wartrike, which is a very selfish, but efficient model that can deal some serious damage. Troops bring in some chaff by adding 30 more bodies in the form of Boyz to help clog up enemy units or even just sit on objectives throughout the game.

Elites start off with a 5 man squad of Meganobs running claw and shoota, essentially acting as Ork Terminators, with good saves, great weapons, and a decent statline, these are an easy choice when looking for more elite bodies rather than chaff.

Ray Cross 3

Fast Attack sees 2 more new additions with the first bringing Squighog boyz acting as more ground mobile threats that can get where they are needed quickly. The second is a 10 man stormboyz squad which is pretty cheap and can lock up a ranged unit for a combat phase or two helping your other models live longer.

Heavy Support adds a battlewagon for some armor, while Flyers brings in a Dakaajet for some more aerial harass.

Finally closing out the list are 2 Trukks to help protect some models for a turn or two and grant them extra mobility until it inevitably gets destroyed and they have to hop out.

All-in-all this is a pretty standard list for Orks, but it’s nice to be reminded that they are still certainly viable in competitive settings if the general is good enough!
