changes--Marvel-Crisis-ProtocolAMG has just released a ton of big Marvel Crisis Protocol Organized Play, Banned, Restricted, and tactics card changes!

Along with all the previews and events recently for MCP, AMG has delivered some giant changes to the game and a new way to play. We’ll cover the big changes but you can also take a look at all the updates and changes here. They have also updated the banned and restricted list, which you need to know about to keep playing!

AMG released the new changes on their blog, let’s check it out!

Marvel Crisis Protocol Organized Play & Tactics Card Changes

ChallengerTo start, there are big changes coming to the cards, with new set symbols, here’s what they have to say about that change:

Those symbols in the bottom corner are Set Symbols – they denote which set a card is from. Generally, the developers work on “sets” of characters and cards together, shown by these Set Symbols. As the game has grown and expanded, we have continued to make new sets – new symbols – on Team Tactic Cards and Crisis Cards. This is all very important for the next bit of this: Organized Play. Challenger Events! The Challenger is an Elder of the Marvel universe, dedicated to playing games and challenging others to prove their worth. These events are a way for players to duke it out on the battlefield and prove their skills to the Challenger.

So, that is quite the change! A whole new host of gameplay aspects and ways to run tournaments.

Challenger Events are the return of the Timeline system that was originally discussed in Organized Play kits way back at the launch of the game, but never previously utilized. Timelines are used in Organized Play events to limit those events to specific sets that curate different experiences for players. Challenger Events are launching with two different Timelines to choose from – Standard and Extended. Standard Timeline events allow all characters and Crisis Cards, but only Team Tactic Cards and Infinity Gems that have the set symbols seen here.

This will let you play more advanced, or simple games. We’ll have to play some games before we make a decision, but adding depth to the game (and the option to choose it or not), should be quite fun. Then, this is where some of the new symbols come into play. This will let them limit what can be used in these types of events, and make the games more competitive. While keeping the fun games out there without all this.

The Standard Timeline is curated for the best possible player experience – removing problematic cards and restricting powerful options to bring balance to the game. The Extended Timeline uses all the Characters, Crisis, and Team Tactic Cards that have ever been made for Crisis Protocol. This Timeline is totally unrestricted, allowing players to truly test the limits of their Roster-building mayhem!

As we said, this is really cool if you want to play an insane and wild game with your friends, just use the extended timeline. But when it comes to tournaments, this will allow them to keep the game much more competitive. Plus, this will let them make entire timelines and curtail games into the timeliness which will be more controlled, and more thematic at the same time.

Big Changes to Roster Lists & Tactics Cards

Now, it makes more sense why they reprinted so many cards with the core pack. Now, not only will they have the symbols, but it also invalidates a lot of original cards, without technically putting them on the banned list. This makes that previous move make a whole lot of sense now.

However, as you see above, there are only 3 symbols available, so, games of this type seem like they will be very limited. We aren’t sure quite how many cards this will include, but possibly having only 3 symbols will drastically cut down on characters.

New Marvel Crisis Protocol Banned & Restricted List

banned and restrictedA ton of stuff is hitting the restricted list, which can be annoying, but is good for the game. Then Mystic Wakandan Herbs hit the banned list, so get rid of that card! Then, they even added an extended timeline, but nothing is on there quite yet.
