AMG Announces New & Updated Crisis Cards for MCP!

Marvel-Crisis-Protocol-cardsAMG just announced they are making changes to all the Crisis Cards for Marvel Crisis Protocol and even have a brand new one to show off!

This is huge, as it will change the game’s entire state, especially for all events! Now is the time if you’ve been waiting for the meta to change. It looks like the physical cards won’t drop until the new year, but they already have the downloadable versions ready to go!

The new set of Standard Crisis Cards will be made up of 10 Extraction Crisis Cards and 12 Secure Crisis Cards. In addition to this, there will be new Map layouts as well.

AMG Announces New & Updated Crisis Cards for MCP!

This announcement comes from AMG.

new Crisis Cards

As of today, a total of 10 Extraction Crisis Cards and 12 Secure Crisis Cards make up the new set of Standard Crisis Cards. These cards are in the same format you know and love, accompanied by some new friends. In addition to the Crisis Cards themselves, 6 all-new Maps Cards are making an appearance. More setup variance creates more diversity in strategy, opening the floor for a wider array of play.

It’s always fun to add some more diversity to the games, and since they are set up the same way, it’s not going to be too hard to learn the new scenarios. It’s been three years with these cards, so we’re all for a change.

new Crisis Cards 3

These updates refresh the state of the game, but underneath is still the dynamic terrain-smashing, objective-stealing slugfest you remember. Most updates adjust timing or wording to make the Crisis rules more streamlined and easier to reference quickly. We have also made quality-of-life balance tweaks, the largest of which is the elimination of so-called “single-point extracts”. Marvel: Crisis Protocol isn’t meant to be a game of keep-away; it’s meant to be a game of chance and tactics and Hulk-style smashing! With the release of the 2023 Crisis Pack, there will be no more Crises that feature a lone objective token, able to be smuggled off by the first player to grab it. This and all our other changes exist to encourage a higher rate of character engagement during each game.

If the new cards actually make games more streamlined, we won’t be complaining. Having a single objective token is never really that fun, no matter the game system. Plus, who doesn’t want to be able to smash more people?

new Crisis Cards 4

In addition to tweaks and balances, a single new Crisis is included with the updates to your old favorites. Paranoia Pummels Populace is a completely new Extraction Crisis to strategize around. At 16 Threat, this Crisis rewards tight-knit Squads for sticking together to face their fears.

Look, when superheroes and villains start smashing everything around, you know people will get scared! This looks like it will be a fun card to play out; just make sure you keep your team close to one another, or they will start getting pummeled!
