Games Workshop Screws Over Stores Again This Week

GW-allocationsIt looks like Games Workshop is up to its old games again, screwing over stores while chasing profits form this week’s new releases and more!

It looks like allocations are back for those new Warhammer 40k releases, and these are some of the tightest allocations (GW calls them Caps) we have seen in a really long time. We also heard rumors of some issues with the robotics and orders, so that could be the reason, but we’re really not sure.

Either way, all the stores and groups we polled reported that their orders were slashed numbers-wise for many of the new releases. However, it looks like the World Eaters stuff will be fine (for the most part).

For now, though, let’s check out what goes on pre-order this week that’s affected, and then look at how many of each will be available and round it up with our thoughts on the matter.

The New Balefleet Battleforce & the Boarding Patrol are Getting Allocated…

Here are the reported caps that were told to stores in some cases one day before pre-orders went live on Games Workshop’s one webstore.

  • World Eaters Dice- Two per store
  • Balefleet Battleforce- Two per store
  • Boarding Patrol: Space Marines- One per store
  • Angron: Number varied by store. Some report none, and some report their full order.

There is some silver lining in this one. At least the World Eater stuff was prioritized by Games Workshop, and most of that (well, besides the dice and, in some cases, Angron) was not allocated heavily. So if you want any of those minis, you should be able to score them.

However, two of the new Battleforce and just one of the Boarding Patrol boxes are basically lockdown-type numbers. If you remember, it wasn’t that long ago nearly every release was allocated.

So, unfortunately, stores (at least in the USA) will not have a ton available. Maybe still check with your local store before grabbing it online, as we purposely held back this article in an attempt to not create FOMO for these products on release day.

pre orders still avaialble

None of these items were sold out on GW’s site one day later after pre-orders went live, so there is a good chance they may be offered back to stores next week to once again pre-order for their customers.

If you can wait to buy any of them from your local store, not only may you save money, but you also send a message to GW that you will not tolerate the games they allegedly play by allocating products to the store.

Let’s just hope this isn’t the norm again moving forward, as things were starting to trend the right way for availability.
