Excommunicatus Crusade Aims to Purge Scalpers From Warhammer

games-workshop-scalpers gw warhammerOne hobbyist is crusading against scalpers with the aim of getting the Warhammer hobby back to normal, so we can get the products we want!

We all know the story: GW comes out with limited releases (or even a normal release), and within minutes of it going to the store, it’s already sold out. Then, guess what?

In a lot of cases, just hours later, those same boxes are back up on secondary marketplaces, and they are close to double the price (if not more with things like the Lion).

However, if we follow this new advice, maybe we can retake the hobby from scalpers and get back to hobbying in peace.

One Hobbyist Encourages Crusading Against Scalpers

This comes from Brian Lefebvre on Facebook.

Hobbyist Crusading Against Scalpers

While the Warhammer fandom has endured under Games Workshop’s questionable business choices. A new and terrible threat has emerged in the hobby space – the scalper. GW has no motivation to fix this problem themselves because they don’t care who buys their box sets, and the fans that miss out have to spend more money on the individual kits. With the launch of 10th Edition of 40k. The community needs to unite to defeat this new threat, or it will only continue to get worse.
So please join the Excommunicadus Crusade to purge the scalper from our hobby space. All you have to do is refuse to spend more than the retail price(msrp) for new/recent releases. This won’t impact purchases from GW directly or you FLGS.

However, if you have to go to eBay or similar sites to try and secure your copy of a GW boxset, regardless of if the auction is set to bid only or buy it now. Do not pay more than the price listed on the GW website for it.

If the community can starve the scalpers, they will need to find other ways to make money. Allowing the fandom to return peacefully to our hobby. Let us make this crusade eternal.

They have some good points here; GW doesn’t really care who buys the boxes as long as they move the units. So, they don’t have a big incentive to stop them, as GWis still making money.

While this can be a hard thing to do, if the scalpers can only make MSRP on the items, they will stop doing it! However, it’s really hard to actually get everyone to do this, but this is a great way how we can use our hobby dollars to vote for what we want to happen in the hobby!

Because this would not only save people money but would actually allow regular hobbyists easier access to new releases.

Obviously, this is quite hard to get so many people together to do this, but if we can band together, maybe we can start cutting into the scalpers’ profits a little!

Will you be joining the crusade against the scalpers and miss out on some releases to keep prices lower?
