Barrell Drillers Comic Strips Back For Another Week of Laughs

barrel-drillers-featureDon’t miss the latest Barrel Drillers, a fun daily comic with strips focusing on all things Warhammer, hobby, and game stores!

The comics follow a painter who can never seem to win a game and a gamer who always wins with the grey plastic tide (and, of course, their nemesis)! Perhaps one of the best parts is that they crank out a comic strip daily, and each one is fun and worth a read!

If you want something fun to check out that’s a lot different from most content, they are totally worth checking out!

Barrell Drillers Comic Strips are Here to Brighten Your Hobby Week!

Hobby comic stripsHere’s a little about the comics from them:

Barrel Drillers, a daily comic strip, is a glimpse into the wargaming hobby and the denizens of the local game shop. They build, paint, and play. Real-life is just a sideshow to their adventures in the world of Warhammer and tabletop gaming.

Barrel Drillers Local 216 follows Turner Harrows, a hobbyist who loves to paint but can’t seem to win a game. His friend Kirby Kantor is the anti-painter who always seems to triumph with his gray plastic army. Together Turner and Kirby slide deeper and deeper into the yawning chasm of tabletop wargaming.

Much of the action takes place at Alonzo Jones’ gaming shop, The Hab, a going concern that is routinely on the verge of going out of business. The Hab is a second home to the gamers, especially those like Kirby whose ever-worsening wargame habit has become a source of domestic friction.

Kirby’s arch-nemesis is Marshal Groeneveld, a mysterious wargamer who can seemingly quote word-for-word the core book and each army’s battletome or codex. Marshal relishes those times when he can be just like his favorite type of rule: an obscure and unpleasant surprise. Wyatt, Balthasar, Chip Damage, and other gamers frequent the shop.

Rounding out the cast are Beatrice ‘Sprue’ Guthridge, an intense and talented young tabletop prodigy, and her older sister Mayhap, a put-upon non-gamer trapped into playing chaperone to little Sprue.

Throughout the strip, themes such as proxied models, ‘poorhammer’, 3-D printing, and chasing the ever-changing meta are explored. Other recurring themes include panic painting, FOMO of new releases, and opponents taking too long with their turns. The group develops a strong bond in their obsessive pursuit of the wargame hobby.
