How To Airbrush Be’lakor’s Skin: Next Level Painting Tutorial

Airbrush Be'lakor's Skin 2We’ll be focusing on the skin this time around, but if you want to see the entire thing, you can watch it on his Patreon or Twitch! Let’s get into painting the mini.

Step 1:

Airbrush Be'lakor's Skin 3To start, he sprays the whole thing black. After that, he adds some Transparent Blue to the mix and resprays most of the skin. Then, add just a squirt of Sky Blue to the mix.

He sprays this from the bottom up and builds up the opacity by slowly adding more of the Sky Blue to the mix. The brighter in color you go, the smaller you want your highlights to be from the top down.

Eventually, all the way up to Sky Blue and hit smaller highlights.

Step 2:

Airbrush Be'lakor's Skin 4To keep building up the layers, he next adds some Tan Flesh to the pot. You’re going brighter here, but you’re changing the makeup of the color. For this, he focuses on the belly and chest.

Just like with the Sky Blue, slowly add more Tan Flesh to the pot and keep building up the colors. Now, it starts getting a little exciting.

Then he adds some Transparent Red with some water to the airbrush. With this color, you want to hit the connection areas, like the shins into the ankles and other limbs. You can even spray a little right up against his abs.

Just make sure to do this in multiple passes, as one big one will not look great.

Step 3:

Airbrush Be'lakor's Skin 5He dumps the pot before moving on. Then he adds pink into the airbrush and starts blending the previous flesh color with the red so there are no harsh transitions.

To Bring the effect closer together, he then goes back to the Transparent Red and hits the tiniest spots to bring it together. While this isn’t easy, it just takes time and focus.

Throughout the whole process, you want to build up the opacity in layers through many light passes.  Just don’t rush, or you won’t get such a nice blend on the skin.

Finished Model:
