This has been quite the insane time for Horus Heresy with a new edition, a giant starter set, battle group bundles, updated designs in plastic, and a constant stream of new resin miniatures. Horus Heresy Expansion The Martian Civil War: Released September 14th, 2024
This is a big one! Dive back into the gritty battle for the red planet with “The Martian Civil War,” the latest narrative expansion in the Campaigns of the Age of Darkness series. Packed with fresh lore, rules, and missions for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy, it’s a must-have for fans.
You’ll find tons of lore for the Schism of Mars, the internal chaos, and Rogal Dorn’s efforts to defend the Sol System. Plus, this expansion has rules for deploying all sorts of nasty tech, from the early corrupted Questoris Knights to the terrifying Daemon Engines used by Mechanicum factions that fully embraced the warp.
The radical Magi of the Dark True Mechanicum are getting some serious upgrades with four new Warlord Traits and four fresh, blasphemous varieties of High Techno-arcana. They can now delve into forbidden sciences like necroteknology and malamina. Plus, if you’re a Scion of Sarum, you can unleash entire armies of crazed Blood Slaughterers!
“The Martian Civil War” expands the Onslaught campaign system, which started in “The Siege of Cthonia,” bringing new rules to flavor your campaigns after the Mars conflict. This time around, scrap-code storms are wreaking havoc, causing weapons and vehicles to malfunction and making Reactions a nightmare. And the battles? They’re set among the war-torn ruins of cities destroyed in the early salvos.
New campaign stratagems let armies harness the most ferocious weapons the Mechanicum has to offer, with the powerful Titan Legions making more frequent appearances. One standout stratagem, Titan Support, tosses the points limit for Titan units right out the window, letting you bring the game’s most awe-inspiring war machines to your standard 3,000-point battles.
Time to unleash some epic mechanical mayhem!
Knight Battle Group Castigator and Acheron: Released August, 17th 2024
The Knight Battle Group includes a Cerastus Knight Castigator and an Acheron variant, forming a powerful combination on the battlefield. The Castigator is equipped with a colossal bolt cannon and tempest warblade, posing a threat to infantry and light vehicles.
Meanwhile, the Acheron features an arm-mounted flamestorm cannon and a reaper chainfist, perfect for taking down heavy armor. Additionally, the box contains two Cerastus Knight transfer sheets with a variety of icons and decals.
Horus Heresy Mechanicum Battle Group: Released August, 17th 2024
The new Mechanicum Battlegroup will be available later this year and includes six agile Thallax Cohorts, twenty Adsecularis Tech-Thralls, two formidable Castellax Battle-automata, and a sturdy Triaros Armored Conveyor.

Games Workshop also mentioned that two new Mechanicum miniatures will be available alongside the battle group as well.
Thanatar-Cavas Siege-automata: Released September 14th, 2024
This massive automaton is equipped with powerful siege weaponry, specifically designed for breaching fortifications and enemy lines. The Thanatar also casts a daunting and awe-inspiring presence at twice the height of a Castellax.
Archmagos Prime: Released September 14th, 2024
The Archmagos Prime is a highly customizable HQ choice for the Mechanicum armies, epitomizing the technological prowess and strategic acumen of the Adeptus Mechanicus.
Horus Heresy Roadmap Into 2025
The Horus Heresy never fails to surprise, and this year, the Age of Darkness has been anything but quiet. From the march of the Solar Auxilia and the Mechanicum stepping up their game to the battlefield-shaking introduction of Legions Imperialis, there’s enough going on to make even the most battle-hardened Primarch raise an eyebrow.
A Long-Awaited Weapons Kit
The whispers on the noosphere suggest that a long-coveted “melee” weapons kit is on the horizon. While details are still under wraps, one can only speculate about the devastation these new armaments will bring. For now, we’ll have to keep our bolters at the ready and our vox channels open for more intel.
Looking ahead to 2025, it seems we’ll be treated to an array of new tanks and plastic weapons options for existing walkers. For those with a penchant for armored warfare, this is your time to shine. Plus, at Nova Open, they said Marines will get releases “for years” in both Legions Imperialis and Horus Heresy. Finally, September marks the return of a beloved tradition: Heresy Thursday previews!

Devastation of Tallarn Campaign Book: Released August, 17th 2024
The Devastation of Tallarn has rules for running a Warfront Campaign that links battles together, or a more advanced Breakthrough Campaign.
Plus, there are new Battle Honours to buy for Veteran Detachments. You can also bring in Formations of Legend that show the forces on Tallarn accurately, along with more new Formations and Detachments for the Legiones Astartes and Solar Auxilia.
Sabre Variants: released September 7th, 2024
Sicarians: released August, 17th 2024
The Sabre Strike Tank, the missile-equipped Sicaran Arcus, and the Sicaran Punisher variants are all joining the fight alongside the Legiones Astartes.
Leman Russ Variants: (Demolisher & Executioner released August, 17th 2024)
The Solar Auxilia forces are adding four new Leman Russ tank variants to their lineup, including the Exterminator with a twin-linked autocannon turret, the Annihilator with a twin-linked lascannon turret, the Executioner with a huge plasma destroyer, and the Demolisher.
Termite Assault Drills: Released September 14th, 2024
GW previewed not only Termite Assault Drills for Legions Imperialis but also another campaign book, as this is the last HH preview for a while.
Legions Imperialis Titan Battle Group Boxes
Entire maniples of Knights and Titans strode the myriad battlegrounds of the Age of Darkness, and soon you’ll be able to build up your own Legio or Household with two new box sets of titanic war machines for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy – Legions Imperialis.
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen big boxes available for Adeptus Titanicus, so these are a breath of fresh air!
From the looks of it, Games Workshop has some exciting plans for Horus Heresy all the way into 2025, including new plastic kits, resin miniatures, and previews of upcoming releases. With so much on the horizon, it’s hard not to be excited for what’s to come.
