Games Workshop Rebrands Their Bundle Boxes Again

vanguard box set gone but not forgotten age of sigmarGames Workshop rebrands their bundle boxes again, this time for Age of Sigmar, as the Vanguard Box sets are now called Spearheads.

We’re not exactly sure why, but GW is rebranding their products once again, as it seems like AoS Vanguard boxes are gone for good (well, as the new boxes come out). If you remember, Vanguard boxes were called Start Collecting boxes not long ago, and now they are changing it all up again…

Games Workshop Rebrands Vanguard Boxes To Spearhead Box Sets

Here is the latest on the rebranding from Vanguard boxes to Spearheads that we first saw with the Stormcast Eternals boxGW Rebrands Their Bundle Boxes Again spearhead box sets

The Cities of Sigmar and the Flesh-eater Courts were the two latest factions in Warhammer Age of Sigmar to receive new miniatures.  And with two new Spearheads* coming out, you can build a solid force for either with just one box.  The new name for Vanguard boxes.

Like the Vanguard boxes, these will get you a decent starting force in one buy, and GW generally tries to put about $60-80 in value in them. We’ll have to see the pricing, but the value seems okay if they don’t increase in price.

Cities of Sigmar Spearhead Box Set

Spearhead: Cities of Sigmar contains 17 miniatures led by a Freeguild Cavalier-Marshal. Five Freeguild Cavaliers provide a fast-moving hammer to smash the opposition against the anvil of 10 Freeguild Steelhelms, and an Ironweld Great Cannon unleashing roaring blasts.

This box has a decent number of models, and if you didn’t get the army box (or just want more miniatures), it could be a good pickup.

Flesh-Eater Courts Spearhead

Spearhead: Flesh-eater Courts comprises 15 miniatures, including an Abhorrant Archregent and his loyal complement of 10 Cryptguard. Three Morbheg Knights bound into combat alongside a horrifying Varghulf Courtier, their frenzied assault a grim parody of a rousing charge.

Just like the Cities of Sigmar, if you got the army box, this has pretty similar models but should still have decent value; fingers crossed.

So, new Spearhead boxes are on the way to Age of Sigmar to replace the Vanguard boxes. The latest factions getting these will be the Cities of Sigmar and Flesh-Eater Courts. These box sets should offer a decent starting force for players wanting to build up their armies. How the new Spearhead boxes will be priced remains to be seen, but they are worth considering for those looking to expand their collections.

Be sure to check out the current lineup and values of all the Vanguard box sets still out there, along with the new Spearhead boxes in the article below!
