Here are the latest rumors, well let’s call it more like detective price work, on how much the new 9th Edition 40k Indomitus Starter Box Set may cost us all soon!
Spotted on Warhammer Community, they’ve just announced a new giveaway of “mystery boxes” and we picked up on a couple of clues about the Indomitus Starter Set, hidden in plain sight. This is similar to the way we “predicted” the Sisters of Battle squads cost being $60 last year.
GW Announces Mystery Box Giveaway
Warhammer Community announced a while back that they’re doing a giveaway and had this to say.
We’re giving away ten Warhammer 40,000 mystery boxes to newsletter subscribers. As the name implies, what’s in them is secret – but trust us when we say that you definitely want to be in the running to win one.
With new artwork of an Assault Primaris, a reworked Necron Warrior, and a new 9th Edition logo, it’s only logical to guess that the mystery box could be the Indomitus Starter after all. With 9th Edition revealed and on the way, there’s no other exciting 40k release at-hand for the mystery box either…at least as far as we can tell.
So let’s look into the details on this giveaway a bit more.
If you look at the details of the mystery box drawing, they’ve laid out the value of a single mystery box (which one could assume is an Indomitus box) totaling GBP £120.
Normally, something costing GBP £120 SHOULD cost about $152. However, we know that GW has a strange arbitrary conversion rate, which means that the mystery box (probably Indomitus) be actually cost MORE in US Currency.
Using a side-by-side comparison of some GW terrain that also costs GBP £120, the same product actually costs $200 in USD.
Back around the start of 8th Edition, we saw Dark Imperium go for $160. But given the fact that GW has raised prices over and over since then, it’s not unreasonable to believe that the new Indomitus starter will cost more as it does contain more models, and an exclusive rulebook as well!
In case you lost track, that’s 61 push-fit miniatures, 1 exclusive launch edition Core Book, the assembly guide and transfer sheet, and the Edge of Silence book with all the rules for your models. We actually packed it so full that we couldn’t fit any dice or tape measures inside – but we know you already have some.
We have also already heard it may be limited to about 5000 units here in North America, and now we may even have the potential pricing as well.
Ultimately, the jury is still out on this “mystery box”. We don’t officially know if it’ll be the Indomitus box, or if it will cost $200, however, it all conveniently seems to line up so far…
With the potential price of the 9th Edition 40k Indomitus Box Set revealed, what do you think the overall value of the contents inside will be?
