These New Primaris Have Outdated 40k Rules Already

40k ninth edition 9th wal horPrimaris units are coming at us fast in 9th Edition, but some eagle-eyed hobbyists are noticing 40k rules discrepancies for units with the same kind of wargear.

From the units inside Indomitus the newly previewed Invader ATV and Firestrike Servo Turret, Primaris marines are getting all the new toys. However, it looks like stuff has been emerging may be consitered “outdated” from when the playtesters were doing their trial runs of 9th Edition.

Confused? So are we. Here check this out.

These New Primaris Have Outdated 40k Rules Already

Eradicators white

eradicator squad datasheetEradicators made their debut inside Indomitus and come with some melta weapons. If you look at the ability, it’s the classic melta weapon we all know and love.

Invader ATV white

invader atv squad datasheetIf you look at the Invader ATV, however, that unit’s melta rule says “roll D6+2” and that’s just for a regular ol’ run-in-the-mill multi-melta that even regular Astartes have access to. Plus, it’s missing some staple keywords like Angels of Death.

lokhust heavy destroyer datasheetSide note, the Lokhust Heavy Destroyer had its keywords clipped off but from what we can tell, there aren’t any special rules on his datasheet as well (like Reanimation Protocols).

indomitus set pointsGoing back to the Primaris stuff, the Invader ATV, the Firestrike Servo Turret, and Primaris Biker Chaplain were all spotted with their points originally listed as being part of Indomitus. We’re not sure what happened but it seems that they were cut from the box after some printing already took place. That would also explain why they previewed these three units so soon after Indomiuts. Because they could’ve been ready while Indomitus preparations were still being made.

Is Change Coming?

Indomitus Skorpekh Destroyers 2If we had to take a guess, yes. Change should most definitely be coming. The fact that of all the datasheets we’ve seen previewed recently, they’re missing faction rules and have rules discrepancies on weapons. Technically, we could be just looking at the old beta datasheets and those “changes” have already been made.

6-3-17 Dark Imperium POST

If you remember back at the start of 8th Edition, we saw some tweaks and FAQs drop just a month or so after Dark Imperium’s release.

new 9th edition codexesHowever, being that we’re talking about units that haven’t even come out yet, it’s sort of impossible for GW to drop a hot FAQ for. On that note, the first time we’ll probably be seeing “fixed or updated” datasheets will be when their codexes drop in October…

With all of this on the table, what are your thoughts on the datasheet discrepancies? Do you think we’ll be seeing things smoothed out when the faction book drops?
