Are the new Armada Flotillas worth it? Today we will be reviewing the recent preview of the Imperial Flotilla for Star Wars Armada. Let’s take a look.
These tiny ships pack a huge punch, but in a more subtle way than you would expect:
The Imperial Flotilla features an Assault Carrier and a Cruiser version. Each ship features one attack die from the front and sides, so it should only engage capital ships as a last resort. These ships are more suited for a squadron escort ship and the title cards available add more options for fleet support.
The Vector title adds more versatility to your bomber squadrons. This card can effectively extend the reach of your bomber ships, especially Firesprays, and they love to perform bombing runs an capital ships. Add in Extended Hangar Bay and you can command 3 Firesprays to each Gozanti flotilla.
The Suppressor title adds an element of surprise for capital ships. If they end their activation within range 1-3 you may exhaust one of their defense tokens. This allows you to pounce on said enemy ship with a capital ship activation and force them to hopefully burn through the exhausted defense token. Add Slicer Tools to Suppressor and you can change its top command dial as well, effectively neutralizing a capital ship for one full turn.
A new fleet admiral comes with the new Gozanti flotillas: General Tagge. At the start of the third round and fifth round each friendly ship may recover a discarded defense token. He acts as the Imperial version of Garm Bel Iblis! This is a huge boost to your fleet and allows you to use more aggressive tactics and to utilize the Devastator title on an Imperial Star Destroyer to the fullest.
That’s all for know Armada fans. The Imperial Flotilla adds a lot more fleet support options to your capital ships and squadrons and should be included in your fleets! Command your armada to victory!
