Welcome back Hobby Maniacs! Today Rob and Juice are here to figure out the answer to the question, “How do you play Runewars?”
Juice and Rob are going to play through the setup battle contained in the starter kit. This is a simple setup engagement using the starter kit models and fixed placement to ensure that everything starts out the same.
Take command of your army in RuneWars: The Miniatures Game, a miniatures game of epic rank-and-file battles for two players, set in the vibrant fantasy realm of Terrinoth. In every game, you and your opponent must duel for position, commanding your units and carefully maneuvering to destroy your opponent on the field of battle.
You may take command of the noble Daqan Lords or call upon the legions of Waiqar the Undying, but no matter which faction you support, you’ll need to marshal your forces and carefully decide exactly how to customize your forces by changing their formation and assigning upgrade cards. Then, you’ll test your choices on the field of battle as you adapt to the evolving combat and fight to destroy your foes!
Rob is running the Noble Daqan Lords with some Spearmen, a golem who looks just a bit like GORO, and some light cavalry.
Juice is playing the ‘good guys’ (haha). The Undead legions of Waiqar the Undying. These guys are packing a sweet Necromancer hero, some skeleton archers and swordsmen and a undead knight riding a giant millipede!
The setup in the starter guide uses fixed positions for each unit. This ensures that everyone’s starter game starts out the same way. This helps players figure out how their units function by ensuring solid a matchup for each unit.
