Demolisher is down but not out of Star Wars Armada. Take a look at this new Demolisher build that will keep it the Gladiator that it deserves to be.
The Gladiator I is still an epic knife fighter that loves to get into close range. The namesake title that struck fear into every Rebel admirals heart has always been the Demolisher. The recent FAQ may have changed its tactics and abilities, but this ship is definitely not out of the fight.
The newly changed title makes it so that you may only perform an attack after your first maneuver, so no more Engine Techs attacks. This hasn’t changed much in the way that the Demolisher behaves on the tabletop. In fact this can make it so that the Demolisher can be fielded at a big discount. By not equipping Engine Techs, you can save 8 points on this already expensive ship.
An interesting replacement for the Engine Techs can be Nav Team. At half the price, this upgrade allows you to treat your Nav tokens just the same as you would a Nav command dial. You can either add 1 speed or add 1 yaw. This can increase the Demolisher’s maneuverability at a nice price drop.
External Racks is another upgrade that can keep the Demolisher on the budget side of things. This upgrade acts as a one time use Expanded Launchers for only 3 points. This card will add 2 black dice to your attack, no matter the hull zone. This can add up quick and you’ve got to always include Ordnance Experts.
Ordnance Experts is the king daddy of Weapons Team upgrades for close range attacks ships. being able to reroll any of your black dice increases their accuracy so much so that no ship can withstand their onslaught for very long.
Will this new Demolisher build make it just as good as the old version? Time will tell once we can get our hands on Wave VI expansions and upgrades to try them out!
