Fantasy Flight Games gives us an in-depth look into the upcoming new Heavy Crossbowmen Unit Expansion for the Daqan Lords!
Armed with heavy crossbows and shields, the Heavy Crossbowmen Unit Expansion will introduce these strong defenders to Terrinoth. You can paint them any scheme you like or mimic some of the great elite crossbowman units. The expansion comes with 8 heavy crossbowmen on 2 infantry movement trays, five upgrade cards, and tokens.
Given the fact that they have trained to use the heavy, shield-wielding crossbow, they have the Protected 1 keyword. This allows them to subtract 1 from their damage pool while defending. At Range 1 to Range 3, they can spend two unique surges to add a mortal strike. They do roll a red and a blue die when attacking and their command tool is equipped with a surge modifier that matches their ranged attack action. Meaning they only need to roll a single surge icon to use the ability.
With heavy armor, the crossbowmen are limited to a march speed of 1 or 2. However, their advance is steady and, with a white modifier, they can consistently move forward at a speed of one; regardless of any action they take. Among the upgrades that the heavy crossbowmen have is Visored Helm. When spent while defending, the player can increase their defense by 1 for the attack if their command tool has not been revealed. This protects them against sneak attacks. Another upgrade, Column Tactics, is a melee tactic that sets a unit’s threat equal to the number of both their partial and full ranks. It also adds that the number of ranks for rerolls is equal to the number of trays in their front rank.

Armed with specially designed bulwark shields and heavy crossbows, these warriors can withstand even the fiercest hail of enemy fire while unleashing their own torrent of death.
The Heavy Crossbowmen Unit Expansion for Runewars Miniatures Game comes with eight Heavy Crossbowmen plastic figures and two plastic infantry movement trays, allowing players to add a two-tray unit to their Daqan Lords forces in battles for Terrinoth. Additional tokens and five upgrade cards allow you to expand your Runewars Miniatures Game collection while customizing your armies!
