Come take a look at the latest images from next month’s White Dwarf showing off new teasers for the T’au codex, including pricing and releases. Today we’re getting a look at the T’au inside March’s White Dwarf that was spotted on Sablednah’sTwitter.

The images below are giving us a look at the release date for the new codex, the price, some tidbits of their background, and a full art spread courtesy of SinisterSamurai on Advanced Tau Tactica.

The T’au codex ($40), Collectors’ Edition codex ($80), and datacards ($15) will all be going up for pre-order March 10th, with a March 17th release date. The datacards will give us 64 cards that include 36 tactical objectives (6 unique to the T’au) and 28 stratagems (25 unique to the T’au).

We’re also getting a look at some of the background information on the T’au, including a small section at the bottom of the page showing their strengths and weaknesses.

These images came from the same thread we found the T’au rumors on a couple weeks ago. The rumors were from a user by the name of Haechi who was said to have deleted his account, and all of his posts have been taken down. A quick username search on Advanced Tau Tactica quickly confirmed it.

Haechi

Could his rumors have had a lot of truth to them? Did he, in fact, see the codex early because he was a GW employee or knew someone that was? There’s no way to know for sure, so we’ll leave that one up to you to decide.

I lost track of this topic for a while, but Arka told me someone dropped a rumour about Gun Drones not having saviour protocols and Rail weapons being the same price.
I can tell you both are false. Although there is a small change to saviour protocols.

I’m not going to rate it because that would be too subjective. All I can tell is that I have a massive tournament coming in two months and I’m dropping my Custodes and Thousand Sons list to play T’au instead. Also buy Riptides and a couple Hammerheads (with Ion Cannons) if you don’t have them.

Burst-or Iontide…?
Either and both. The firepower of both has skyrocketed while the point cost dropped hard. Plus there’s two insane stratagems for them.

The change to Saviour Protocols is something similar to what Crisis Bodyguards do and Shadowsun’s rule with Stealths suits.

Sorry, that was a bit confusing. Savior Protocols is the same as before, but happens only on a 2+.

If people are already complaining about T’au, here a few negative things haha.

1 commander per detachment

No changes to the markerlight table

No improvement to BS across the board

Games Workshop confirmed the March releases last Friday which include the T’au.

Tau Preview

The forces of the Greater Good embark on their great Fifth Sphere Expansion* this March.

The new Codex: T’au Empire is big news for any fans of the Greater Good for a host of reasons. We’re particularly excited by the prospect of having army-wide sept rules for the very first time – with the option to build your collection around a force from one of the empire’s five most famous worlds, or even have them represent the forces of the renegade Farsight Enclaves.

The latest previews have us looking forward to the release of the T’au codex, and hopefully, Games Workshop will start the previews soon so we can get an idea of what’s changing in the new book.

What do you think about the latest White Dwarf images? Are you going to be picking up a collector’s edition of the new codex? Is Haechi gone for good, or simply laying low for a little bit? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
