New Primaris Space Marines are coming, are you ready? It looks like GW is going all in on the new design after a few previews here lately…
We can all agree that Primaris could use some more love and support. And no, we don’t need anymore Primaris Lieutenants. It looks like GW may have finally gotten them out of their system and have moved onto a whole host of new Primaris models.
And while there are still rumors swimming around the web we’re definitely getting closer to the answers on all the new models.
The Shadowspear Box Set first got previewed at the 2019 LVO. This box is supposed to contain all new miniatures for both factions. It will also be similar to the Tooth and Claw/ Wake the Dead starter formats, for example.
Primaris Vehicle Rumors & More
These boxes generally are designed to get players started off with a new faction and have similar unit-types across the board. (Just so the games are fair if the two players use the models solely from inside the box).
Let’s take a look at some of the rumors of a Primaris Vehicle that could be waiting for us.
First off we saw the Daemon Engine Venomcrawler get previewed in the box while the Primaris have no vehicle in sight.
That leaves the door wide open for a potential new Primaris vehicle to come inside the box that we just haven’t seen yet…
Rumor Engines Pointing to Clues
Taking a look at some rumor engines from the past that while still unconfirmed to be anything specific, still have a high potential to be for the Primaris.
Starting off, this bit looks almost exactly like the hull of the Repulsor. It has sloped angles and definitely has the feel of some kind of hovercraft. Primaris are in dire need of a cheap vehicle that can either transport units or harass vehicles as a “glass cannon”.
Looking at another rumor engine, this looks to be like the business end of a Flamer. However, something about this model just points towards Primaris design. We know it’s way too clean to be anything the Orks would use and has a “size” that looks like it may not even be shoulder-fired. Could this be a turret option that goes to a light Primaris vehicle?
Lastly, we’ve got blips on the radar! Once again, the curved features and crisp controls look like something that the Primaris would have no problem using, but could be anything Imperial.
If the Primaris are getting a fast land speeder or flyer-type model, we can definitely imagine this bit being a part of the controls in the driver’s seat.
The Librarian is the narrator in the video heading into a place called “Nemendghast”. They were supposed to be the heroes of the planet, however, they’ve only found monstrosities and horrors being manufactured out of what looks to be some kind of Daemon forge.
Digging a bit deeper, in one of the frames from the video, a new Primaris unit that we’ve never seen before has been spotted carrying what we can only guess is an autocannon. What’s even cooler is that there’s one flying above the squad in the top left.
Just by going off the art, the legs of the new Primaris unit look to be from the Inceptor. However, the backpack looks to be the same that the Reivers all have. (It honestly looks like GW kitbashed spare parts from a few Primaris units together). Nonetheless, you can’t deny the fact that flying Primaris Autocannon teams are wicked.
Rumors Looking to be True
Recent Rumors Coming from multiple industry insiders:
- Primaris Light Transport that will be weaker/cheaper than the Repulsor is coming inside the box.
- Primaris “Jump” unit will also be found. Not sure if they will use actual Jump Packs or something like the teleport shunts like Grey Knights.
We may have finally found our “jump unit” that the rumors were mentioning. Maybe the jump unit is actually a weapon team that can grav-chute insert onto the battlefield.
Ultimately, we need to keep our eyes peeled as we get closer and closer to Shadowspear’s release. It’s only a matter of time before even more previews and prices begin to pop up. Do you think there’s a hidden Primaris transport coming inside the box?
