New rumors are here about changes that may be coming to GW stores in 2020. Check out what could be in store for your next hobby shopping experience.
Hobbyists can order pretty much anything from Games Workshop’s online webstore (well when it’s in stock). But being a vertically intergraded business, GW also has brick and mortar stores around the globe that, as of right now, only carry largely content for Age of Sigmar and 40k.

Currently, when you walk inside a GW store, you’ll largely only see content geared toward Age of Sigmar and 40k. You may see a couple of boxes here and there if there’s a special release like a BattleBox Set for Blood Bowl or Necromunda. However, you won’t see any well-kept stock of GW’s complete array specialist games (Titanicus, Necromunda, Blood Bowl, Warcry, AI, etc.).
According to some industry insiders, that could be changing soon. Here are the latest rumors:
GW is going to be “beta testing” bringing in a stock of different specialist games to some stores in areas that have high mail-order sales of the same types of games (yes big GW is always watching)… Depending on how successful things are, stores everywhere could be keeping a regular stock of high turning specialist games like that in the future.
If you’re a fan of GW’s specialist games you may be seeing some inventory changes in your GW store soon and for the better! Assuming these rumors are true, this is a great move on GW’s part as it’ll be easier than ever for players to pick up new games that have a lower entrance fee to start. Plus with a more stable supply, perhaps these games will grow in those areas as well!
