The Codexes have been out for hot minute, so you know what that means, Necron & Space Marine FAQs, let’s check it out.
Along with the Legends rules, Warhammer Community released the FAQs today for the month-old codexes. They also released a decent-sized FAQ for the Black Templars, with a bunch of fun rules.
In a way getting FAQs means they are looking to keep things fresh, and if they’re actually listening to players’ input, that’s always a good thing! The FAQs aren’t really aren’t that big, but let’s check out what’s going on with them!
Space Marine FAQs
A lot of this deals with some minutia that they didn’t put out quite perfectly in the original codex. They said they are listening to player feedback so that’s always a good thing! If you’ve been waiting for your MTO Indomitus box to actually use these rules, looks like they are finally shipping.
Necron FAQ
Again, nothing too crazy here. A lot of it is just making the rules a little more understandable. If you want to download the FAQs, you can grab them here! Here is what they have to say about the FAQs:
Last month saw the release of the best-ever Warhammer 40,000 codexes for the Space Marines and the Necrons. Fans across the world have devoured them with Tyranid-like enthusiasm and provided us with some fantastic feedback on the minutiae of the rules. We’d like to thank you for all of your comments and questions about these books, and we can now present the FAQs for both of them courtesy of the Warhammer Studio team.
Black Templars FAQ
The Black Templars got a bunch of stuff, including their detachment rules. The detachment rule gives them automatic wounds on hit rolls of unmodified 6’s in CC while the assault doctrine is active when not fighting against a vehicle.
Stratagems
Some pretty cool stratagems in there and all but one of them are only 1 cp. The tenacious assault stratagem could really be a game-changer in the right scenario. Keeping a unit in combat for another turn could keep your CC units alive and fighting!

Chaplain Rules
You have to decide which litanies you want, doesn’t look like you can mix and match. But having more options is always a good thing!
Warlord Traits
Doubling your Heroic Interventions could take opponents by surprise and really keep units safe from charges. Pretty much every trait is for combat, so get stuck in for the Emperor!
Relics
Some pretty fun little additions in here but nothing too game-breaking. Lastly, they include five datasheets for some characters and units. Go download the rules and get your Templars wreaking havoc!
Do you think consistent FAQs are good for the game? Will you be bringing your Black Templars to the field?
