Biggest Xenos Points Changes: 40k Chapter Approved 2021

chapter-aproved-points-changes-xenosTons of new points changes are coming to the Xenos factions via the 2021 edition of 40k Chapter Approved. Let’s check out the biggest changes.

Spotted on Reddit, one user broke down all the biggest points changes for a majority of the Xenos Factions.

They all look correct to us, but you can also check them out for yourself over on Imgur at these links: Tau, Tyranids (sorry there weren’t pics for the others!). With that in mind, let’s jump right in and see how the meta might shift.

If you missed our thoughts on the other points changes from this book you can check them out below as well!

Craftworlds/Harlequins

psychic awakening eldar

  • Avatar -35
  • Fire Prism -15
  • Night Spinner -10
  • Dark Reapers -3
  • Wraithblades -3
  • Wraithguard -3
  • Fire Dragons -3
  • Solitaire -2

With point drops all around, not too much to complain about here. The Avatar got a serious reduction in points, which it really needed! Dark Reapers have been an Eldar staple for a while as well so another great change. Fire Prisms dropping 15 points is also a serious change, but we’ll see if this is enough to really give them the help they need. But who cares about points. Just give us some new minis already, right?

Just to note, DE looks fairly unchanged with the Reavers being correctly put to 20 points.

GSC/Tyranids

  • Jackals -2
  • Purestrains -2
  • Dimachaeron +25
  • Swarmlord -30
  • Tervigon -20
  • Stealers -2
  • Trygon Prime -15

The Jackals going down in points is really nice, but the characters for the GSC are what could really use a change. Unfortunately, they didn’t get it so… Purestrains and Genestealers going down in points is pretty sweet though. As they are the staple of so many armies, you’ll be able to run even bigger squads. Even a ten-man unit is saving you 20 points.

Necrons

Necrons Royal Court set

  • Catacomb Command Barge +10
  • Entropic Lance (Chrono) +10
  • Tesla Immortals -2
  • Doomsday Ark -20
  • Lokhust Destroyers -5
  • Lokhust Heavy Destroyers -10

Destroyers are getting a decent drop, which they definitely needed, but it still may not be quite enough. The reduction on Immortals is also nice and pushes them close to a more viable option when compared to Warriors, now they may actually be worth taking in bigger numbers. The Command Barge increase didn’t feel super necessary, but what can you do?

Tau

Tau Warband

  • Hazard Suits -5
  • Riptide -1 pts

Nothing to see here honestly. But at least you got that single point of Riptides, so who knows, maybe that’s the push they really needed……

Orks

Ork dok

  • Nobs on warbikes 30 ppm -5 ppm
  • Killa Kan (Rokkit) 10 points +5 points

With the new codex coming out soon, we won’t really read too much into this. We’ll just have to wait and see how it all shakes out, one good thing is almost everything is getting an additional toughness.
