The Black Templars Army Box is coming next week as 40k releases are on the way- check out all the new pre-order items including Blood Bowl too!
Games Workshop just let us in on all the new releases that are finally going up for pre-order this coming Saturday. From the looks of it, the focus is heavily on the new Black Templars army box, but there are still pre-order products for fans of Blood Bowl and even Black Library too.
Now let’s look at next week’s line-up, starting with the Black Templar Army box from Warhammer Community.
Black Templars Army Box Pre-Order
Containing 13 miniatures, 12 of which are available for the first time in this very box, this is the perfect place to start a Black Templars army or build on your existing force. Leading the charge is the stunning new Emperor’s Champion, and ensuring that the correct vows are uttered and devotions followed is a Marshal.
Just like the army boxes we’ve seen in the past, this will give you early access to these new models and get a sense of how they will play on the tabletop going forward.
These Space Marine heroes are supported by a Primaris Crusader squad, featuring four Neophytes, five Initiates, and a Sword Brother decked out with holy wargear. And for those heretics who prove tougher to purge with flamer, bolter, and blade, there’s also a Redemptor Dreadnought packing some seriously heavy firepower.
The models included seem to be a great starting point for a larger scale force as it comes with a little bit of everything.
This 80-page book contains all the rules and lore you need to get started with the Black Templars. Within its pages are Battle-forged rules that cover Templar Vows and Passions, new Stratagems, wargear, Relics, and a bumper Crusade section – very fitting for the questing knights whose crusade is already eternal.
As a codex supplement, this isn’t a complete rule over-haul, but instead a new add-on to the core Space Marine Codex. That being said, this still could be a super powerful and exciting faction to play.
Last but by no means least, there’s also a handy deck of Black Templars datacards, covering your core Stratagems, bespoke Stratagems, and your Templar Vows.
Of course, you will also get these Datacards to help track all the new information you will be trying to learn which can help speed up those first few crucial test games.
This Army Set is coming next Saturday with a Pre-order Weekend Promise to ensure that no Black Templars fans miss out. Just like Kill Team: Octarius, we’re taking steps to ensure everyone who wants one can get their hands on a copy. Keep an eye on the Warhammer Community site, as we’ll be sharing more information on how this will work later in the week.
This is also great news as it essentially makes the box MTO and anyone who wants one will be able to get it. This also helps to quell the ability of scalpers to take advantage of people, however its sure to still have a price increase on the secondary market, so don’t miss out if you want it!
New 40k Black Templars Army Box Pre-Order: Pricing & Value
The Army Set contains 13 miniatures, including 12 new Black Templars – a Marshal, the Emperor’s Champion, and a 10-man Primaris Crusader Squad with a ton of build options. You’ll also get a Redemptor Dreadnought, for targets that require a more forceful elimination.
These could all change, but we think the values below are pretty spot-on:
- Primaris Crusader Squad $60 (Based on other Space Marine Intercessors)
- Redemptor Dreadnought $65 (existing kit)
- Emperor’s Champion $40 (based on recent character releases)
- Marshal $35 (this could be on the low end, might go up to $40)
- Codex: $30
- Datacards: $25
Total MSRP: $255
Estimated Value: $55
So, first, we expect this retail at the $200 mark, and the value is basically identical to the Orks Beast Snagga box. Looks like GW likes that price point for both value and pricing.
It’s not the craziest box ever, but you do save some money, get the rules early and grab a bunch of new minis. However a key takeaway here for us is that you get about the same value from this as any of the combat patrol boxes, but end up paying $60 more at the register for the Army box configuration.
White Dwarf 469
October’s issue brings gifts from the gods to the primordial Seraphon in the form of a battletome update, including rules for matched play and Path to Glory.
The tricksy traitors of the Thousand Sons are also advancing inexorably into the new edition of Kill Team with a comprehensive set of rules for a Warpcoven Kill Team, which we gave you a sneak peek of earlier in the week. Inside this month’s issue, you’ll also find heaps of hobby content, a very special Battle Report, and so much more.
White Dwarf Issues are always packed full of great Warhammer content, so if you like some light reading, this might be a quick way to get some.
Blood Bowl Amazon Team MTO
Depending on which legend you choose to believe, the Amazons of Lustria are either the descendants of an adventurous group of Norse Valkyries who settled on their new-found continent or creations of the ancient gods themselves. Either way, as a tier one team in the Lustrian Superleague, their natural athleticism, agility, and propensity to violence make them brutal practitioners of Blood Bowl.
This set of 12 metal figures contains six Tribal Linewomen, one Eagle Warrior Thrower, two Piranha Warrior Catchers, and three Koka Kalim Blitzers.
These MTO teams are always exciting for old fans how might have seen these in their early years of hobbying. It’s also nice for a newer players to see where the game came from and how much it has changed.
Blood Bowl Tomb Kings Team MTO
Every Khemrian Blood Bowl team is held together, quite literally, by a liche priest – an ancient wizard who also fulfils the usual roles of a head coach. Tomb Kings teams play in the Sylvanian Spotlight, coming in at tier two. With up to four Strength-5 Tomb Guardians per team, they excel at bashing other teams off the pitch – even if their ball-handling skills leave much to be desired.
This 12-piece set of metal miniatures includes six Skeleton Linemen, two Anointed Throwers, two Anointed Blitzers, and two Tomb Guardians.
Just like above, these a great callbacks to the past! Although you might also be able to use these as skeleton proxies in AoS, albeit probably at a premium.

Siege of Terra: Mortis
Batten down the hatches, the Siege of Terra series will witness an assault of epic proportions as the god-machines of the traitorous Legio Mortis and the stalwart Legio Ignatum clash at the Mercury Wall. Ancient rivalries are reignited as a handful of desperate individuals do their best to save Terra from Horus and the warp, as Mortis goes up for pre-order in paperback format from next Saturday.
