Battle To End Alzheimers 40K GT: Fresh 40k Army Lists

40k-army-lists-freshThe Battle To End Alzheimers GT happened over the weekend with some pretty sweet 40k army lists making it to the top!

Depending on who you ask, competitive 40k is about the worst it has been in recent memory.

As such, the top overall players were a lot of the same stagnant meta that has hung over tournaments lately like the ghost of the Knight Castellan, so we’re featuring some of the more unique lists that placed high instead!

Matt Lorah is a fantastic 40k player and coach over at Vanguard Tactics. This week we were lucky enough to hear directly from him about his list and methodology. Below is what he had to say:

The list is high mobility, trade style list where you utilize cheap efficient units to steal objectives and strike very hard in any weak spot left open by your opponent. Units often have different roles depending on matchups; for example, the spiders vs ranged armies like tau are centerboard objective grabbers while a combat army they hold backfield objectives due to their special rules making it hard to charge them.

The choice of Ulthwe is mainly to be able to get extra fate dice and Eldrad. The ability to cast all my important buffs reliably with Eldrad is very important (especially Will of Asuryian to steal objectives). Rangers and scorpions provide early board control while dragons and serpents can reliably pop tanks. Barharroth plus the hawks make it hard for my opponent to play cagey as they can force their hand.

The list can do a fair amount of mortals in certain situations as well. Lastly is my warlock on jetbike, he runs around doing psychic actions using fate dice and the relic making him undeniable.

Hearing directly from the player is a unique insight, especially from such a consistent force in the 40k tournament scene.
