It may be a hard pass for the Warhammer 40k Space Marines Combat Patrol set; here is the box’s price with the value and savings breakdown!
Remember, these Combat Patrol box sets are mostly designed for new players to the factions. They are similar to the old Start Collecting Sets that GW introduced back in 2016 and marketed as a quick way to get a small force on the table to play some small games right away.

Usually, these starter-style kits are a pretty good value, so even if you grabbed the army box already, this could be a decent value.

Take an elite, flexible force into Combat Patrol and kickstart your Space Marines collection with this fine assemblage of powerful heroes. Five Terminators, five Infernus Marines, a Terminator Captain, and a Terminator Librarian – whom you may have seen grinding up some Tyranids in the Leviathan box set earlier this year – put out the damage of many more men, and are tough as nails to boot.
- Five Terminators $65 (Easy To Build Versions)
- Five Infernus Marines $35 ($60 for ten based on Intercessors, Easy To Build Kits)
- Terminator Captain $42 (Based on Terminator Chaplain Price)
- Terminator Librarian $38
Total MSRP Value: $180
Savings Versus $160 Box Price: $20
Is the Space Marines Combat Patrol Worth It?
This is a very odd box. It has almost no value beyond buying all of these by themselves. A lot of this value is tied up in characters, which means if you already have them, you may actually lose money on this box. Then, you only get half a unit of Infernus Marines, which could be a little odd, too.
So, this doesn’t seem like a box worth buying unless you want every single miniature inside…
What to Buy Next?
Well, considering this doesn’t have many models inside, and only ten non-character models, you have a long way to go. You’ll need plenty of Intercessors, tanks, probably more Terminators, and characters. It’s hard to say what to go next, as you basically have to build out the rest of your army.
The only value we really see to this box is picking it up if you cant find a box of Leviathan or one of the other starters to split with someone else.
Still, it gets you some exciting minis to start your collection, so take what you think is cool from here!
