All Hail The New Transmogrification Toads!

Warhammer Old World Transmogrification toad

Two new Arcane Toads add a hilarious twist to Warhammer: The Old World— with wizards turning into frogs mid-battle from the Scroll of Transmogrification!

Warhammer: The Old World has always had its fair share of powerful spells, game-changing artifacts, and over-the-top magical shenanigans. But now, wizards have more to fear than just miscasting—because, thanks to the Scroll of Transmogrification, some will be hopping mad… quite literally.

The latest addition to the Old World’s expanding lineup includes two resin Arcane Frog miniatures from Forge World, perfect for representing unfortunate spellcasters turned into amphibians mid-battle. This set brings a hilarious, tactical, and thematic touch to games where spell duels don’t just end with fiery explosions—they end with croaking.

The Scroll of Transmogrification: A Wizard’s Worst Nightmare

a picture of the Transmogrification rulesMagic in the Old World can summon storms, crack the earth, and raise the dead. But sometimes, the best way to deal with an enemy wizard isn’t countering their spells—it’s turning them into something small, green, and completely useless.

At 50 points, the Scroll of Transmogrification is a one-time-use item that lets a wizard attempt to stop an enemy’s spell not by blocking it but by turning the caster into a frog. The targeted wizard rolls a die, hoping to match or roll under their wizard level. Fail, and they spend the rest of the game hopping helplessly with all stats (except Wounds) reduced to 1.

Each turn, they have a 50/50 chance of returning to normal, but until that happens, they can’t cast spells, use equipment, or do anything other than sit there looking deeply regretful.

When and Where to Get The Transmogrification Minis

Magic rules Warhammer Old World 2These Arcane Frog miniatures are set to arrive soon in Forge World resin, offering both a practical and entertaining way to keep track of unfortunate spellcasters. Whether you’re a competitive player looking for a way to shake up the battlefield or a collector who enjoys the quirkier side of the Old World, these little amphibians are bound to make a splash.

About Sam Duguid: Sam has been into Warhammer 40K for about half his life, starting back in 2006 with the Battle for Macragge starter set in 4th edition. He got really competitive and even became the Top ITC Eldar Corsair player in 2019, using a sweet list made up entirely of Venoms and Reavers bands.

While Sam is all about the different flavors of Eldar, they also enjoy playing Astra Militarum, Charcharodons, Night Lords, and Knights! When they’re not focused on 40K, Sam loves to get into Warhammer Fantasy, Horus Heresy, Age of Sigmar, Legions Imperialis, Battlefleet Gothic, and even Titanicus.

They’re always looking for any game that they can convince their friends to play with them. Currently, Sam is working on their airborne Astra Militarum army along with several Age of Sigmar and Old World armies.
