First Look Review – Astra Militarum Codex

By Rob Baer | April 12th, 2014 | Categories: astra militarum, First Look, Imperial Guard, Videos

The Guard are here, and it looks like they just get better with age.

Sure they have a fancy new name Astra Militarum, but for the most part it’s just the same old ‘Guard kicking it on the front lines.
Even though the current buzz is that the book is “bad” (just like Tau, Eldar, Daemons, and Chaos were “bad” initially as well) I think that once players take a deeper look at the unit selections and abilities we’re going to see some pretty exciting stuff from this book.

At first look however a lot of the things that made the ‘Guard super popular are gone, and some things even went up in points.  But overall I think most units cost less, do more, and work better with each other than even before!

May we live in exciting times indeed!

Click play in the video review below to checkout the new book, and stop back by soon for my tips and tactics series on the new Astra Militarum as well. -MBG
